re:1910 us census mystery
my paternal grandparents immigrated separately to the us.my grandfather from avellino province to new york in 1900.my grandmother from messina province in 1902 to boston.my grandfather was found in the massachusetts census for 1910.living with his brother in law and his family(my grandfather left behind a wife and was staying with his wifes brother.no idea why his wife never joined him,as it had been 10 years since he'd left).in the meantime,my grandmother had been married and widowed in 1909.she should have been found in the 1910 massachusetts census, either under her married name or maiden name,as she never left massachusetts from the time of her arrival.this is a total mystery.according to the limited information i have,my grandparents met sometime between 1910 and 1913,when my father was born.the first census, then, that would list them together would be the 1920 census.my grandparents lived"common law"up until 1950,when they formally married(the 1st wife of my grandfather lived until 1949 which is the obvious reason they couldnt marry until then, since my grandmother was widowed in 1909 and could have married years earlier).my grandfather was antonio ricco(originally ricca, which is how he was listed in 1910).my grandmother was born maria costante(costante was a name given to illegitimate children born of unknown parents).her adoptive parents were francesco landino and maria bonarrigo.francesco never came to the usa but maria bonarrigo, also my grandmother's wetnurse, arrived with my grandmother and died 1 week after arrival.my grandmother married giuseppe logrippo in boston in 1905.he died in 1909.so i checked the 1910 census for all these opossible names that my grandmother might have used.costante,bonarrigo,landino,logrippo.i found nothing.what other possible listing could she have gone under??? this is a total mystery.anyone have any ideas as to finding her in the 1910 census??? in 1920 my grandparents were living in marlboro mass.and theres no problem tracing their whereabouts from that point on,as my father and a younger sister were part of the family.its the time period 1900-1920 thats problematic.no idea where my grandfather was from 1900 to 1910.he was in boston briefly after he arrived.then he's in middleboro mass,in 1910.my grandmother was in boston from about 1902 to 1905.in 1909 she's in cambridge mass.where she was from 1909 to 1913,when my father was born,in lexington mass.is the mystery. i know she had a breakdown after the death of her husband in 1909 and was institutionalized for a time.if she were,i'd have no idea where,or whether,as a patient in a hospital, whether she'd be listed in the 1910 census.many possibilities i guess.

Re: re:1910 us census mystery
i have that.it was my grandmothers child by her 1st husband giuseppe logrippo.but that only shows she was in cambridge in 1909.she lost both her husband and this child in 1909.where was she in 1910 is the question.it wasnt cambridge from what i can see.note:the name vincenzo was a typo evidently,as giuseppe was her husband.vincenzo was the child.

Re: re:1910 us census mystery
thanks marty.i have giuseppes birth record already.i have his complete family tree,as he was the father of my fathers 2 half brothers.unfortunately none of this helps me in my quest for my paternal grandmothers whereabouts in the 1910 us census.any suggestions? note:the giuseppe logrippo i found in the link wasnt the correct giuseppe logrippo.i have the civil extract from muro lucano.he was born in dec.1867 to antonio and maria mangone.this is another subject with the same name.but not the right one.incorrect parents and month.lots of logrippo's in muro lucano.like smith or jones here.this was another giuseppe logrippo.but thanks again.
