Re: D'Avino, Marciano Vito Antonio
on the line above the one containing "Contrada Roseto" you can read: ..."del dì quattordici del corrente mese" = "of day forteen of current month".
Marciano Vito Antonio was born 1902, June 14th. The birth was recorded on the 15th (this is on the very first line).
You're doing a good job! Brava!

I've got a long way to go, but thanks, Livio!
Why is the father's name in a different place than it usually is?

The birth was announced by the midwife Mariangela Micena and the reason is explained in the handwritten paragraph.
"The declarant (the midwife) assisted to the birth because of her profession and announced it in lieu of the father because the father was emigrated to America"

That's what I was assuming but could not find emigration to America. I will have to look closer!

Dolores, no, the age is not given. Usually if the declarant is the midwife, she does not know how old is the farther.dmurphy1940 wrote:Livio, does the record give the father's age, and where can I find it?

Hi Dolores, here is Carmela's Birth record at No 56. She was born 20 (venti) April 1876, at 12.00 (dodici).dmurphy1940 wrote:Thanks.

Father: Giovanni di Leo, 38, contadino, living Frigento.
Mother: Maria Giuseppa Sauro, contadina, with whom he lived.
Address: 28 Contrada Cesine
So she was two years older than her husband who was born in 1878
