Looking for info on surname Bellezza in Roccalumera

Sorry, I went by the naturalization document of 1924, on which Agata's date of birth is listed as 15-May-1894. It says it clearly. So it did not suprise me to find an Agata born on that day (even with a different last name). So I will assume she was 23 when Carmelo born which puts her birh later in 1876, and assume she was not born Agata Sturia.

Funny, on Santi's birth record, dated quattro Novembre, millenovecento quaattro (1904), Agata's age is listed as ventotto (28). 1904 - 28 = 1876. So I wlll try 1876 for a while. And with Charles, it's 1899 - 23 = 1876. Only the naturalization document shows 1874.

A lot of US records don't match the Italian records they are lost in translation days months and sometimes the year. I have been looking for Enrico and Agata marriage record 10/17/1896

I know - even just a simple thing like a trip on a ship, they will shift the date by one day or one year so we need the OFFICIAL record. But we have no OFFICIAL record of marriage or Agata's birth yet. We just have to trust the dates or not trust them, and keep coming up with ideas.

It's a shame - my great grandfather Enrico was alive until I was 3 or 4 years old. I might have seen him once or twice. His son Joseph, my grandfather used to give us gifts at Christmas and visit us, and videotape us on his 8mm camera. We all liked him but perhaps my father was upset that his marriage to my grandmother Violet started to dissolve when my father was about 10, 11, or 12, although he did not divorce until 1970's, and then remarried Marcella Alfreda Boy, a woman whose house I visited at the age of about 14, in Port Ritchie, Florida. She was a nice French lady that my Grandpop Joe married and stayed with for the rest of his life. I enjoyed meeting them - save for the cop who stopped us - it was raining so hard that I had to get out of the car to read a sign - the cop did not like me getting out of the car. Funny story. But I liked my grandpop Joe - he was hard-working and had no teeth at all. It's a shame - Marcella has passed away too. My grandpop Joe was a friendly guy.

Wow, I now realize that the Naturalization document of 1924 has 13-May-1874 for Agata's day of birth, not the 15th. I'm not sure that I checked all of the May 13 records.

Checked the marriage records for Enrico and Agata for the town of Messina 10/17/1896 that's the date listed on Enrico's birth record in the sidenotes did not find it.

Me neither. I started a letter to Italy, then translated it, but I want to add some more information before I send it. I will also travel to suburban Philly this spring - perhaps knock on some doors, but I don't want to offend anyone so I may try letters first. I have to do the same for my mother's paternal ancestry, which should be easier since my mother already did it once. The censuses in those days were pretty much who is the head, and how many live there? The earthquake didn't help. I don't know if either of them went to school or if there would be any record this far in the future. I'm new to this game.

When I search the images, I try to look for indexes to them - sometimes they are there, often not. Perhaps I will get time to help with the indexes some day. Checking a few dates each year is not hard, but going through every image is tough work. But not if you watch tv or something while you do it!

Here is Agata's 1943 naturalization record which, like most other documents, suggests that she was born in 1876. At the time, she is living at 1733 Pierce Street, Philadelphia, PA, and is 67 years old (according to the document of course).

Here is her grave at FindAGrave. She died in 1960. They list birth year as 1875. I'm not
sure who Carol was.
