Giuseppe Merenda was my grandfather

I am in the process of finding out the birthdate etc of my grandfather. I just received th info on Paterno calabro. I am looking to apply for dual citizenship.

I am sorry I don't have any other info right now. I was just asking if there is any info on Merenda's in Paterno.

I came acroos a movie made by a man in Sweden called "My American Family". It's about male Merendas emigrating to American during the time my grandfather did. I can't even seem to find a way to buy the movie. I am so interested in my heritage and don't know where to start.

Oh, and they settled in Philadelphia. (in the Tacony section of the northeast)

First line is the surname. Last line is the name of the town and you get a page of Merenda's living there. It is a very small town. Good chance some are relatives.

Here's some info on an Antonio Turco... could be the uncle mentioned on Giuseppe's manifest... from Tacony in PA... mentions 2 children on this manifest. Vincenzo (living on 7115 Hegerman St., Tacony, PA... ) and Rosina (in Italy)

I checked out page 1, and sure enough.... mention of an Angelina Merenda is there....

Near Angelina Merenda's name on the manifest is a notation... Husband is on page 2 line 3.... and so I looked... and sure enough, her husband is Antonio Turco.... mentioned above!

My Grandfather was Francesco Merenda born in Paterno Calabro. He had a brother Antonio and Gaetano. He went to the US through Pennsylvania in 1909. He married my Grandmother Mary Grimaldi, also from Paterno Calabro (came to the US in 1913) in Arma Kansas. Do you know any of these names or anyone in connection to them?

Thank you. Joe Grimaldi is my Grandma Mary Grimaldi Merenda's brother. There is another brother Alex Grimaldi. In the 1920 cencus he lived with my Grandma and Grandpa. They spelled his name Frank Maranta. Which was wrong...but they didn't speak good Italian let alone english. Thank you for your search.

Everyone is giving you great information.

I will tell you the microfilm for the town is great. I did research for the Surname Fiorino from Paterno Calabro. If you ever get your research back far enough, there was a Teresa Merenda/Meranda b. 1767. Her parents were Giacinto Meranda and Chiara Caputo. Teresa Meranda was married to Pietro Rendace.

Also, where in Philly are you from? I'm in Philly too.
