Your opinions?
What information needs to be in a post?
I've noticed from the Home page that a lot of folks drop by, but not many post. (it took me 3 years!)
What do you all need to get started to answer a question?
Does it help to know what the poster already knows or has researched?
Thank you for your time. I've learned a lot by dropping in over the years.

Newbie question: Posting
Re: Newbie question: Posting
First and last name, spouse, known children, ages/birthdates and location.
Parents/siblings, and other relatives if known. Immigration date or a rough guess. Even if dates are unknown, having the names of family members can help to correctly identify your family.
Mention all documents researched so research is not repeated. State your research goal clearly, are you looking for current persons or past persons, records here in US or Italy, Last but not least, limit posting to one thread so all may follow what has been done and what needs to be done.
Just my opinion, everyone has their preferences..........

Re: Newbie question: Posting
Some people post in the BLOGS (Community) section of this forum... and those posts don't get the exposure they need... and are easily forgotten...vj wrote:Your opinions?

Re: Newbie question: Posting
wldspirit and mfjp,
Thank you for your assistance:
- A clear, complete question should get the most helpful response.
- Posting questions in BLOGS isn't a good idea.
Another question when you have a minute.
What are the BLOGS for?
I'm not that new to the internet, but I'm unsure of what I would use a BLOG for...
Thank you (again)
