Date of marriage from records

Post by MichaelSerchio »

Hi,
I've got a couple of records for marriage, and I'm wondering if you could help me understand how to interpret the actual date of marriage.
I know that the "banns" are published before the actual marriage record, but if you could help me understand what the various dates represent, I can use this info to then interpret other records of similar types myself.
Thanks in advance for your help.

2672 holds the actual marriage celebrated 1872 Oct 12, the record also states that the banns were posted on Sep 27 and Oct 4
2216 certifies that the banns were posted 1874 Sep 27
