Re: marriage translation
Hi Donna
Yes, that is what I am reading also. I think what it means is that the information about who he was, was taken in faith?????? I'm not 100% though. I had similar, but not exact, wording in one of my records once. Maybe someone else can confirm/negate.

Re: marriage translation
"...come dalla fede esibita" = "...come dal certificato esibito" = "...as in the certificate shown"

Re: marriage translation
Thank you, Livio. A new phrase for me to remember. It would've been easier if they had just said "come dal certificato esibito".

Re: marriage translation
Angela, you are correct, however if the document's heading is "fede di nascita" you cannot say "come dal certificato esibito", you have to say "come dalla fede esibita".

Livio: I understand, so: fede is feminine and certificate is maleliviomoreno wrote:Angela, you are correct, however if the document's heading is "fede di nascita" you cannot say "come dal certificato esibito", you have to say "come dalla fede esibita".

La fede = the faith (in this case an attestaton?)
dalla fede = from the faith
il certificato = the certificate
dal certificato = from the certificate
Donna: You obviously catch on much quicker than me. It's taken me a while to get there.
