Re: Pietro Belsito
I've seen thousands of documents that were transcribed with misspellings. The most popular misspelling is "Guiseppe" instead of "Giuseppe". If you are convinced that correct surname is Ferranto go ahead with it and good luck.

I know, makes it really difficult. No, I am sticking with yours.liviomoreno wrote:I've seen thousands of documents that were transcribed with misspellings. Re: Marriage Banns: Vincenzo Belsito and Agostina Duca
mmogno, thank you for posting the passenger record. I appreciate it. If you have a minute, could you please talk me through the process. I use to be able to save them to my computer before they updated the site but I was having difficulty earlier. (I don't actually use the site too often because none of my ancestors went there. I just use it when I'm helping people. It would still be good to know how to do this. Thanks.)Belsitoj wrote:Hi Angela, Livio and Mmogno. I do have a copy of a copy of the passenger record but the one mmogno posted is much clearer.
Your Caltanisetta records are on line at : http://www.antenati.san.beniculturali.i ... anissetta/Belsitoj wrote: I must be doing something wrong when I go on Familysearch because I either cannot find a lot of things I am seeing here or I need to go to the History Center to view. I am going to the Family Center after the holidays and will see if they can help me.
as follows:
Matrimoni: 1866-1913
Morti: 1866-1930
Nati: 1866-1903
You won't need to go to the Family History centre for those records/years.
For example:
Pietro Belsito born 2 January 1903, No 10: https://familysearch.org/search/record/ ... %3ABelsito~
While it is saying that it is viewable at a Family History Centre, you will actually find it here:
http://www.antenati.san.beniculturali.i ... ewsIndex=0
Birth No 10: Pietro Belsito
Caltanisetta: 2 January 1903
Father: Vincenzo Belsito, 21 yo, ferraio (blacksmith), living Caltanisetta
Mother: Agostina Duca
Born the same day at 5 am. At Via Giammaria, No 35
(You'll notice from the first link that Vincenzo and Agostina had two previous sons named Pietro, born 1901 and 1902.)
Hope this makes things clearer for you.

Thanks Angela. I'll have to search around the link (my wife said she is going to send me to Genealogy anonymous because I spend all my waking hours on the computer. Hard to break away when I get a lot of information thanks to you guys. God Bless you.

So happy to help. Your wife sounds wise. I think that with genealogy, which is such a passion of mine, there can be a danger of being so obsessed with our dead ancestors and solving that next puzzle, that we have to be careful not to neglect our living treasures (family) that God has blessed us with. May He bless you and yours also. Glad to see you have been locating records on the antenati site. It can be a bit of a mission, so do ask for help if needed.
Angela
