Father is Oronzio and wife's name Maria Nuzzi

Yes, this Santa was aged 3 years and 8 months.

(Have just returned briefly to the forum. As usual, great work, mmogno!)

Jen5525 wrote:so this may answer my question. another child death (age 2), Luigia? Daughter of Giovanni & Maria Pallotta correct? Correct. One of the declarants was Giovanni Stella, son of Vitantonio.

Looks like they stayed in Italy until at least 1929...

Jen5525 wrote:still another Santa Stella (really unlucky name!). same year as above 1915. Parents Bartolomeo and Maria Filippa Clemente. My heart is breaking for them with how many children they lost!

This Santa was 2 yrs 4 mths. Yes, it is heartbreaking. Unfortunately the mortality rate was extremely high back then. So I am guessing that Bartolomeo and Giovanni's parents were Vitantonio and Santa? Is that right?

Yes, Angela. That's right! Vitantonio Stella and Santa Colonna were the parents :) I found Santa Colonna's death record too this morning, but don't have the link handy and forget the year...Haven't come across Vitantonio's yet though.

Going well! (Sorry you the lost the year and link - frustrating). Yes, I remember the surname Colonna now and also of course Stella, from a few months back. (A little trick of mine, when I'm going through the records is to save the links to the indices as I go through. I just label them Death 1997 or whatever, and then if I need to go back to the indices I just click on the link to the relevant year.) Go well.

EDIT TO ADD: Re: Vitantonio Stella: Your death records only go up to 1929 and it "looks like" Vitantonio was still alive on 19 November 1829, so you probably won't find Vitantonio's on line, unless there is an error in the 1829 death record for Luigia.

Thanks Angela! I noticed the Giovanni son of Vitantonio reference as well, but couldn't tell if that meant Vitantonio was still alive. They normally would indicate if he was deceased though, correct?

Yes, you would usually see the word "fu" (was) before the person's name which means they were deceased. Sometimes errors are made though. Any luck refinding Santa's death record? That should have Vitantonio's name on it. Can you remember roughly what years you were looking at? I need to go out shortly but could take a quick look for you, before I go.

Death No 13: Santa Colonna
Altamura: 5 January 1926, 2 pm

Men appearing to report the death: Pasquale Ninivaggi, son of Girolamo, 26 yo and Filppo Creanza, son of Michele, 31 yo, both living Altamura. For their occupations it has the word "meno" which means "less" and I am not sure what it means in this context. Someone else might have struck this before. They reported that:

Santa Colonna died today, (4 January 1926), in a house in Claustro Gianelli, No 33. She was 65 yo, casalinga (domestic), born and residing Altamura, daughter of deceased Michele (Colonna), contadino, and deceased Chiara Calia, casalinga, who had both lived in Altamura. Santa was the wife of Vitantonio Stella.

Witnesses:
Giuseppe Quintano, 26 yo, beccaio (butcher) and Michele Mataupieri?, 41 yo, postino (postman).
