Multiple citizenships

Over 25 million Italians have emigrated between 1861 and 1960 with a migration boom between 1871 and 1915 when over 13,5 million emigrants left the country for European and overseas destinations.

Multiple citizenships

Post by aosmga »

Hi, I do not now if this is the right place to ask this, if not please redirect.

Me and my wife are brazilians, our son was born in the US so he is an American Citizen.

When I have my Italian citizenship recognized, and file his birth certificate ( he is 15 yo), does he keeps all three citizenships? Or does he has to renounce one of them.

Thank you.

If he was born in the United States, he will keep U.S. citizenship. He would have to renounce his citizenship before a U.S. diplomatic official and pay a fee to renounce. He's not applying for another citizenship, he is getting it recognized; presumably, he has always had Italian citizenship.
