Help testing the download speed

Post by Edmondo »

Currently I am testing a new host for Italiangenealogy.com. Main reason for this test is to know which of two hosts can offer the best download speed for Italiangenealogy.com.

You can help me by downloading a file from both hosts and to post your results as a reply in this topic.

The test file on the first host can be found here (not anymore).

The test file on the second host can be found here (not anymore).

Download the files, write down the host (first or second), the download speed (KB/S), the time in seconds it took to download the files and the place your are located and if you know also your maximum download speed.
After downloading you can delete the file.

Please try different days and different moments of the day.
Thank you for your help!

Hi Edmondo!

First one - downloaded in about 3 seconds... no icon showing on downloaded page....

Second one - about 4 seconds... but at least I got the "bin" icon showing up on the downloaded item...

I'm on a mac system here...

Have a nice day from Toronto, Ontario Canada

Thank you Maria!

Please test it a few more times again on different moments of the day and post the results after every test.

I fixed the bin icon!

Hi Maurizio,

Because you are in Europe like I am I expect you will have a big speed difference if you repeat the test tonight.

Thanks for your help,

Edmondo

Edmondo,

Is the test over now or is it still a work in progress? Have you made any decisions?
