Hello! I am working on my family tree and I am having great deal of difficulty finding the Birth, Death and Marriage certificates for my 2X Great Grandparents. This is what I have, a lot of it is from US census except my Great Grandfathers Birth Cert and my Great Aunt wedding documents
Name: Giuseppe Damato
Born: ~ 1857
Married: ~1878 to Maria Chirichella
Immigrated: ~ 1880
Name: Maria Chirichella
Born:~ 1862
Married: ~1878 to Giuseppe Damato
Immigrated: ~1885
I believe both were in NY unto 1895 and they may have had two children in NY that survived ( Rose and Angelina)
After 1895 they were in Hoboken NJ where they had Jennie, David and Dominick Damato. There also seemed to possibly be a Frank living with them. he may have been a Chirichella and he was between 5-20 years old. Unfortunately the census then didn't show age just a range of years.
1900 there is a birth certificate for the birth of Dominick Damato ( my great grandfather).
1907 both were on the marriage entry between Rose Damato and Framilius (Frank) Brogna.
The last record of Giuseppe that I have found is in the 1920 census and Mary in the 1930 census living with her youngest son Dominick and his family. She was listed as 68 in this census.
Unfortunately I do not have a definitive location where they immigrated from in Italy but I believe it was either Naples or Salerno area.
Thank you all for any advice, tips, assistance that you provide.
Mark

To research in Italy you must know the town of origin. There are tips on my website that might help.

This maybe a long shot but I did a quick search in the Catholic Cemeteries (http://www.rcancem.org/find-a-loved-one ... &cemcode=5) and found a Maria R Damato (d. 1932) in Blk F Sec F Gr 57 1F in Holy Name Cemetery in Jersey City.
I also found a Francesco (?Frank) (d. 1911) in same plot - 1D, and a Rosaria (?Rose) (d. 1919) in same plot 1E.
I could not determine the other individuals interned in this grave but someone must be present in 1A, 1B and 1C.
It may be worthwhile contacting the cemetery.

Thanks. Once it gets warmer out a day in the cemetery to view a few of these sites may be needed.
