Conundrum in Campana

Post by MattH »

I am researching for a friend who has ancestry in Campana. Her grandmother Rosa Parisi was born on 24 June 1907. Rosa's grandmother was named Teresa. Apparently, as the story goes, Rosa was born out of wedlock to Teresa and Giuseppe Manfredi, who was a priest in a local church.
I believe I was able to locate Rosa's birth registration (see attachment below, or go to: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903 ... cat=538716), but, while the birth date and forenames match up, the surname (Rossano) is wrong.
I know that Teresa and Giuseppe eventually married, and had additional children, although I do not know the exact dates for either events. Their other children were named: Aida, Antonio, Francesco, Manella, Maria, Paulina, and Saverio.
When I searched through the Campana birth records on FamilySearch, no other matches were found with the surnames Rossano, Parisi, or Manfredi.
I've contacted the civil offices for census information, but does anyone have any suggestions as to how to find more information to clear up the story? Would church records help?

What records do you have that give Parisi as Rosa's surname? And what records do you have that indicate Teresa's maiden name was something other than Rossano? For example, was it inferred from Rosa's surname or do you have other documents?

Also, you may have noticed, but one of the two witnesses was a Francesco Manfredi.
