Help with Translation of Marriage Record
Would anyone be able to give me a general idea of what the marriage record says for my great grandparents, Michele Landini and Grazia Cleonice Giannini? Thanks for any help!

Re: Help with Translation of Marriage Record
My goodness!! Thank you for the wealth of information. You are so fast. Can I ask a favor? Can you find Antonio Landini, born October 30, 1897, in Troia? I would like to know the address where he was born or lived. Michele and Grazia are his parents (so my great great grandparents). I'm going to Troia this summer and want to see the house that they lived in.
I have been spending hours upon hours trying to crack the code and find records! Thank you so much for your time and help.

I am very grateful for your help. This means so much to me and my family. I am taking my mother who is 79 to Troia so that she can see where her parents lived before immigrating to the U.S., Washington DC. This has been her longtime wish -- you have helped make it come true. Grazie mille!

Re: Help with Translation of Marriage Record
Would it be possible for you to look at the marriage record above for Michele Landini and Grazia Cleonice Giannini and see if it has the name of the church where the marriage took place? Or, if it has any information about where the marriage took place? I tried reading it but wasn't able to figure it out. Thank you again for all of your help.

Re: Help with Translation of Marriage Record
Maybe mmogno will correct me, but from what I can see on those records, there is no mention of church anywhere on this record. This was marriage took place at the Town Hall /Municipio office, which was common for the time. Law required couples to be married by civil authority and was by choice if they ALSO wanted to be married in a church. I've seen in my own research couples who were registered in both civil and church records but years apart from each other. Besides that there's other info here, like that Michele was a 'Sarto' or a tailor. Also at the end there's some intriguing information about a child born to 'genitori ignoti' (unknown parents) on the 23rd of Jan 1896 in the comune of Lucera. I'm thinking Michele and Grazie adopted this baby.

Re: Help with Translation of Marriage Record
The record above refers to civil marriage, distinct from the religious one. So this marriage was celebrated at the Town Hall.
In order to know where the religious marriage was celebrated, it is necessary to ask the nearest parishes.
Michele was born at Strada Bellucci #2 and Grazia Cleonice at Strada Fiore, both still existent.

Michele and Grazia have legitimized a child, aknowledging him as their son.
The child had been initially registered in Lucera, as Antonio Nelucci, son of unknown parents. But later Michele had already aknowledged him as his son.

Re: Help with Translation of Marriage Record
This is interesting - and confusing! Can you help me get this straight? Michele Landini had a son Antonio born in 1896 in Lucera. Antonio's mother's surname was Nelucci. Antonio's mother was not Grazia Giannini. Michele and Grazia are married and acknowledge Anthony as their son. He was then called Antonio Landini.
Michele and Grazia were married June 13 1897 (from your post above on 15 March). Michele had another son named Antonio Landini born on October 30, 1897 (from your post above on 15 March). This Antonio was born 4 months after they were married.
Is all of this correct? I am so amazed and grateful that you can find this information. Thanks again and I appreciate any help in putting the pieces together.

Re: Help with Translation of Marriage Record
1) On January 23, 1896, sister Anna Cesira Tonnelli, responsible for the reception of the foundlings abandoned on the wheel of the hospice of Lucera, presented herself to the Civil Status Officer of Lucera. She declared that a male child of a few days was received in the hospice on that same day. This child was named Antonio Nelucci, son of unknown parents, and his birth was registered in Lucera.KarenFLG wrote: 22 Mar 2018, 18:17 This is interesting - and confusing!
