the profession - Comico

As a nation state, Italy has emerged only in 1871. Until then the country was politically divided into a large number of independant cities, provinces and islands. The currently available evidences point out to a dominant Etruscan, Greek and Roman cultural influence on today's Italians.

the profession - Comico

Post by dmt1955 »

i believe that the professione of the father, Don Pietrantonio, is 'comico.' google translates this into 'comic.'

first, i am accurate? second, given that he has a title, would this be understand as someone who was in the theatre - something like a satirist?

thanks,
donna

Though I can't find an accurate online reference, I'd say in the past "comico" was used to mean an actor (while today is more specifically referred to a comic actor). In fact the word "capocomico" (chief comic) meant the director of a company of artists.
