Birth records from Portugal - specifically from San Miguel

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if anyone has researched Portugal? I am looking for birth records for my 2nd great grandmother Joaquina Pacheco that was born in San Miguel about 1870. Her parents were Joao Pacheco and Maria Craveira. I haven't been able to find any searchable records, but I thought maybe I was missing something. If someone can point me in the right direction, I would be so appreciative. Thank you!

I am assuming you are looking for info on Sao Miguel, Azores Islands, Portugal. To find your family you need to know the "Concelho"/municipality ( Sao Miguel has 6) and then the freguesia/parish where your family lived. There are several freguesia in each Concelho.

Here are a couple sites to visit: 1. worldgenweb.org/azrwgw/ Lots of good info and tips here.
2. Once you know where in Sao Miguel to search go to tombo.pt/en. Click
on Azores, then Sao Miguel, then municipality, then civil parish.
