1844 Atti di Nascita - Sabba Rauco

Post by malsbury »

Found another sibling of my 3rd great-grandfather in the Leonessa archives.

It appears the first name is Sabba since it was listed in the index with the other "S" names, but really looks like Jabba in the record. Both seem to be very uncommon first names, so we'll go with Sabba unless someone else has a better read on it.

Record No. 181: Sabba Rauco born October 18, 1844, daughter of Ludovico Rauco and Cecilia Rauco.

Any assistance with the translations of the details would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Thomas

I believe that it is Sabba. If you look at the "s" in "scrivere" in the handwritten sentence at the bottom, it matches up. Also, in the link below for her husband's death (Antonio D'Orazio), you can see her name written out in possibly the most perfect handwriting I've seen on the old death records. If only all the records were written this way...

Thank you so much for the the confirmation of the spelling of Sabba, but if I can ask how did you find her husband's death record so quickly. I only just found her birth, and had no indication of her marriage yet. Is there a searchable digital database of the Leonesaa records? I've been manually searching for surnames of family in the scans of the index pages.

Any pointers how better to use these records would be greatly appreciated.

Some times you get lucky. Here is what is indexed and searchable at FamilySearch for Rieti.

Here is what is indexed and searchable generally at antenati. Just restrict to Rieti in the Comune box. http://dl.antenati.san.beniculturali.it ... arch]=name
