I have a post pending in the translation sub forum, but it makes me wonder,
what ramifications were there for having a child out of wedlock during the mid 1800s?
“Con una Donna non maritata non parente”
In my particular case, what I can make out on the birth records do not match who my great-grandfather later calls out as his mother on his USA marriage record which I find interesting. Was it common for the child to stay with the father if the parents went their separate ways, or was that sort of thing even allowed?
I am continuing my search into the mystery mother on the birth record and hoping to find out more details on both woman in this case. Possibly his blood mother passed and his father married, or didn’t. Thats deeper than I have gotten so far. Sorry, rambling on there.
