The children of Carolina SIMONE (1854-1900) and Giovanni MAZZONE (1847-1910) have been among the most challenging group of individuals that I have tracked so far. The children and their spouses have some of the most significant surname twisting after immigration that I've seen all clustered together like this. Some 'interpretation' is always expected, but this high degree is unusual.
Combined with the early deaths of some of the older generation, this twisting appears to have sometimes caused their descendants to completely lose contact with their ancestral lines. Just for one example; the two children of Nicola/Nicholas COSTRINO with his 2nd wife, Mariannina Di GIUSEPPE (who died shortly after the birth of her 2nd child) have been so disconnected that the older child's obituary lists his mother as Marianna Di JOSEPHA as it shows on his garbled birth record and the other child's obituary simply lists her as Mrs. COSTRINO--her mother's name is shown as Marianna De JUSITTI on this child's birth record.
Their are multiple instances of siblings (some living in the same small town!) who have used different spellings of their surname throughout their lives. SCHIAVONE/SCHIAVONI, MICELOTTI/MICELOTTA etc...; these may seem to be minor variations but for an amateur with limited resources like me, they have caused many hours of head scratching confusion HA!
It'll take more explaining to sort these families out than the usual attempt to be as brief as possible so I'm going to just start with the basics and add more later. From above we know that Carolina SIMONE is the daughter of Brigida FINO & Pasquale SIMONE. Giovanni MAZZONE was one of 7 known children of Michelarcangelo MAZZONE (1822-1885) and Anna Maria SANTOMARCO (1824-+1910) who were married May 14, 1846. Michelarcangelo was one of 5 known children of Vitangelo MAZZONE (B. ~1779) and Teresa VENDITTI (B. ~1788) who were married Nov 21, 1816. Anna Maria was one of 6 known children of Michele SANTOMARCO (B. ~1788) and Maria Giuseppa SIMONE (B. ~1788) who were married ~1808.
Carolina SIMONE and Giovanni MAZZONE had 8 known children:

#2 Filomena MAZZONE (1877 CdP - Bef 1956 MA) first married Michele IANIRO (~1870 Pietramontecorvino - ~1903 MA) on Oct 18, 1896. The most common pattern I've observed of marriage in the bride's hometown then residence in the groom's was followed. The couple soon moved back to Casalvecchio; perhaps for Filomena to be closer to her family while he was working in the USA? I haven't fully researched the IANIRO family but note from the 1896 marriage records that his parents were the then deceased Giovanni and the then still living Arcangela MASTRODOMENICO-both of Pietramontecorvino. His grandparents were likely Michele IANIRO & Antonia DE VITO and Alberto MASTRODOMENICO & Antonia CAGIANO.
Filomena and Michele had 3 known children before his mysterious death in America in 1903.
1. Giovannina /Jane/ Jennie (1897 Pietramontecorvino - 1980 CA) who married Luigi/Louis/Lewis SCHIAVONE/SCHIAVONI (1884 Torremaggiore - 1968 MA) on Feb 19, 1917 in Milford. I haven't fully researched the SCHIAVONE family but note from the 1917 marriage record that his parents were Pietro & Teresa SOLDANA. Giovannina & Luigi divorced sometime in the mid 1930's and she and the children were in the home of her mother on the 1940 census. The IANIRO surname is seen with a fair bit of variability in the record trail. The SCHIAVONE surname only partially survived 'Americanization' with some children going through life with the SCHIAVONI version. Giovannina & Luigi lived mostly in Framingham and had 6 known children:
--Pierno (1917-1918)
-- Peter Reno (1921-1997 CA) who used SCHIAVONI all his life. He and his mother are buried in the same cemetery; each with the separate versions of the surname used but definitely mother & child.
--Gildo (~1925 - Bef 2017) went to seminary school and joined a religious order.
--Theresa F. (1927-2017) who married Paul HIGGINS and had 7 children.
--Lena (~1929- Bef 1940)
--Robert (~1932-?) who may have also moved to California.
2. Pasquale (1900 CdP - 1967 MA) who married Theresa MOCCIO/MOCCIA (1914 Melito Irpino - 1991 MA) about 1929 probably in Framingham. I haven't fully researched the MOCCIO family but note from the records seen that the family was likely from Melito Irpino, Avellino, Campania, Italy and her parents were Nicola Saverio & Pasqualina GIORGIO.
Pasquale and his mother made several trips to the USA. It appears they remained permanently after the 1916 immigration. Pasquale & Theresa had 4 known children:
--Minerva Filomena (1931 - Aft 2015) who married first to Mr. DENNING and second to Francis Anthony CICCARELLI. She was last known living in Las Vegas, Nevada.

--Michael Aristotle (1933 - 2007) who married Roberta MACCINI.

3. Antonetta Carolina (1903 CdP - 1903 CdP)
Filomena became the 3rd wife of Nicola\Nicholas COSTRINO with their marriage in Milford on May 4, 1925. Nicholas' 1st wife was Filomena's younger sister #6 Mariannina MAZZONE. (More next time on the COSTRINO family). Nicholas married for a 4th time in 1956. I have not been able to locate a death record for Filomena but assume it was prior to this 4th marriage.

#6 Mariannina/Mary MAZZONE (1889 CdP - 1917 MA) married Nicola/Nicholas COSTRINO (1883 Torremaggiore - +1956 MA) on July 10, 1909 in Milford. His parents are listed as Giuseppe & Amalia TREMATORE. Nicholas immigrated with his maternal uncle Matteo TREMATORE in 1906. Note also another maternal uncle Nicola/Nick TREMATORE, who married Louisa FERRUCCI, was a neighbor in Milford. Louisa's father, Domenico's, 1st wife was my 1/2 great grand Aunt Arcangela ANDREOLA through her father, Giovanni's, 2nd marriage to Maddalena Costantina TOSCHES. Nicholas COSTRINO was able to leverage his shoe repair skills into his own business -the American Shoe Repair Co. He definitely had his own brand of patriotism for his new-found home; note the original given names of his children!
Mary & Nicholas had 5 known children before her untimely Feb 2, 1917 death just days after giving birth to their 5th child.
--Dr. Joseph Alfred (1910 MA - 1985 MO) who married first to Una Mae Johnson before 1940 and second to Betty Lee McCracken in 1950.

#3 Rosa MAZZONE (1880 CdP-1966 Cdp)married Domenico AMOLLO (1880 Torremaggiore-? CdP) on Dec 8, 1901 in Casalvecchio. Domenico's surname has some variation (often AMMOLLO) in the record trail. I've used it as it shows on all his children's records. His parents were listed on their marriage Act as fu Giuseppe & di Filomena LAVORATO who lived in Torremaggiore. Domenico has one of the rarely found records of citizenship into the commune of Casalvecchio. Rosa & Domenico had 5 known children. All but their eldest appear to have stayed in Italy.
----Maria Lucietta/Lucy (1902 CdP-1984 MA) married Felice MELE (1894 Torremaggiore-1988 MA) on Feb 6, 1921 in Milford. They had 10 known children.
----Maria Grazia Carolina (1904 CdP-?) came to Milford in 1920 but I can find no additional information for her. She may have returned to CdP

After Pasquale SIMONE's death in 1861. Brigida FINO (1828 CdP - 1882 CdP) married widower Vincenzo MANDES (1823 CM - 1871 CdP) from Casalnuovo Monterotaro (CM) on April 1, 1862. His parents were Giovanni and Modesta FALCONE. Vincenzo was married twice prior to this.
His first marriage was to Isabella CELESTE (1821 CM - ~1850 CM) on Feb 7, 1847. Her parents were Antonio and Annantonia TIRRI. Vincenzo & Isabella had one known child, Michele (B. Jan 21, 1848 CM).
He married next to Maria Giuseppa SANTELIA (1827 CM - ~ 1862 CM) on Dec 22, 1850. Her parents were Paolo and Rosa COLANCHISE/COLLANCHISE. Vincenzo & Maria Giuseppa had four known children:

So only 2 of Brigida's 7 children survived to start families of their own. Brigida's brother, Antonio Maria FINO's (1833 CdP - 1902 CdP) family suffered a similar result in what were obviously some very difficult times in this region. Only 1 of his 6 known children survived.
Antonio is the 5th known child of Angelo & Anna Rosa COICO. Their 4th child, Maria Giuseppa (B. 1831), may have died as a child--I have been unable to locate any continuation for her in the record trail. This is the case for the 6th (and last) known of their children, Nicola Maria (B. 1836), as well.
Antonio married Maria Giuseppa/Josephine D'ALOIA (1848 CdP - 1935 MA) on Nov 25, 1872. Josephine's parents were Giuseppe and Teodora IERONIMO/IARONIMO--See Michelarcangelo D'ALOIA and Antonio's first cousin, Maria Raffaela FINO, in the July 21, 2018 post.
Antonio and Josephine's 6 children were all born in CdP and 5 of them died there.

So only 2 of Brigida's 7 children survived to start families of their own. Brigida's brother, Antonio Maria FINO's (1833 CdP - 1902 CdP) family suffered a similar result in what were obviously some very difficult times in this region. Only 1 of his 6 known children survived.
Antonio is the 5th known child of Angelo & Anna Rosa COICO. Their 4th child, Maria Giuseppa (B. 1831), may have died as a child--I have been unable to locate any continuation for her in the record trail. This is the case for the 6th (and last) known of their children, Nicola Maria (B. 1836), as well.
Antonio married Maria Giuseppa/Josephine D'ALOIA (1848 CdP - 1935 MA) on Nov 25, 1872. Josephine's parents were Giuseppe and Teodora IERONIMO/IARONIMO--See Michelarcangelo D'ALOIA and Antonio's first cousin, Maria Raffaela FINO, in the July 21, 2018 post.
Antonio and Josephine's 6 children were all born in CdP and 5 of them died there.

Angelo FINO married Maria Louisa Consolatta/Elizabeth/Elissa VECCHIOLLA in Casalnuovo Monterotaro on Feb 14, 1897. Elissa was born in Montefalcone di Val Fortore, Benevento, Campania on Nov 12, ~1881 but was residing in Casalnuovo Monterotaro with her 52 year old widowed father, Filippo VECCHIOLLA, who consented to this marriage. Elissa's mother who lived & died in Montefalcone di Val Fortore was Maria Antonia PAOLETTI. Maria Antonia was listed as a 'tessetrice' = weaver. Montefalcone is located ~30 miles SSW of Casalnuovo Monterotaro. Both the Vecchiolla & Paoletti family names are well represented there.

Only one other of their children was linked for cross-referencing; Filomena's older sister, Anna/Mary A. (1898 CM - 1976 MA) who married first Antonio DeMUZIO and second Dante DALLAVALLE.
Francesco Paolo DeCIERO's parents were Domenico (1850 Carlantino, Foggia, Apulia - 1897 CM) and Anna BECCIA (1850 CM - +1897 CM) who married March 25, 1874 in CM. Anna's parents were Leonardo (1821 CM - Bef 1874 CM) and Maria Giuseppa IANNETTA (1829 CM - +1874 CM) who married June 14, 1848.
Maria Giuseppa MANCINO's parents were Luigi (1850 CM - +1897 CM) and Filomena SPECCHIO (1855 CM - +1897 CM) who married Jan 29, 1874 in CM. Luigi's parents were Saverio and Carmina ESPOSITO who married Jan 24, 1839. 3 other children are linked to Saverio & Carmina. Carmina's parents were Luigi and Rosa SCALERA who married Aug 26, 1813. Luigi ESPOSITO's surname comes not from being orphaned, but as is often seen in this region, because of an unwed mother. Her name is listed as Violanta DiVITA on his marriage record. 4 other children are linked for Luigi & Rosa.
Filomena SPECCHIO's parents were Saverio and Rachela/Rachele MORSELLI who married July 9, 1837. Saverio & Rachela have 8 other children linked to them.

While I've spent a considerable time investigating destinations like Milford, MA or other originations like Casalnuovo Monterotaro, the linked together family members in the Casalvecchio category is now approaching 2000 people and is becoming a real handy tool when I find spouses etc that I need to track back upstream to Casalvecchio. Chances are getting better & better that I'll find their ancestors already on the list!

#5 Rose/Rosa Maria FINO married Pasquale Arthur ANNANTUONIO on Dec 30, 1944 in Milford. Pasquale was born April 8, 1920 in Milford. He and Rose have exactly the same date of death of October 22, 1995. I haven't as yet learned the story that must exist behind that fact.
I haven't tracked Rose & Pasquale's children beyond their son Anthony A. ANNANTUONIO Sr. born March 23, 1946 as they are likely still living. I did track Pasquale's family upstream and learned a few interesting things.
Pasquale's original surname is most likely IANNANTUONO. His father Antonio (1888 ? Italy - 1977 MA) immigrated in 1906 and married Filomena ZURLO (1892 CM - 1974 MA) on Jan 30, 1910. I have listed and partially tracked 5 other children for Antonio & Filomena:

---Lucia/Lucy (1913-1930) who died as a child
---Arturo/Arthur M. (1914-2000) who married Margaret MEOMARTINO

Antonio lists his parents as Leonardo and Lucia IADAROLA. I was unable to track Antonio to a hometown in Italy or to continue beyond what is listed in the 1910 marriage for his parents. In his wife's hometown of Casalnuovo Monterotaro, IANNANTUONI is a common surname but IADAROLA is relatively rare. In nearby Pietramontecorvino, IANNANTUONO is the version used and is relatively common. IADAROLA is very common and there are many IANNANTUONO/IADAROLA marriages in the books. I couldn't find a 1888 range birth for Antonio or a Leonardo + Lucia marriage on the quick scans I did, but did not dig very deeply. Some other document with some clue to Antonio's origins must be found to help narrow down the search areas. Again based on the early records found, IANNANTUONO is the most likey 'pre-americanized' version.

Domenico Maria's parents were Angelo (B. ~1772 CM) and Rosa MEOMARTINO (B. ~1772 CM) who were married about 1792. Rachela's parents were Giovanni and Liboria PIERRI/PIRRO/PIRRI.
Some of Giovanni CICCONE and Liboria PIERRI/PIRRO/PIRRI's other children include; Luigi who married Annantonio ZULLO in 1830, Saverio who married Teresa AGNUSDEI in 1835, Gabriella who married Michelangelo FERRECCHIA in 1830 and Francesco Paolo who married Rachele PALMIERI in 1834.

Angie(Angelina Rose) FINO and Augustino (Agostino) Anthony NIRO (1920 MA - 2007 MA)were married on Sep 21, 1946 in Milford. They had two children: Michael (1952 MA - 1995 CA) and Marie, who married Peter TOSCHES.
Augustino's parents were Michelarcangelo (Michele) (1893 CdP - 1977 MA) and Maria Flora ANDREOLA (1899 CdP - 1989 MA) who married on June 17, 1917 in Milford. Michele & Flora had 4 other known children:

Pasquale ANDREOLA'S (1841-1902) parents were Agostino (~1799-Bef 1866) and Antonia FRATTA (~1798-1866) who married on Feb 11, 1818. I am currently looking into this branch of the ANDREOLA family and will add much more later about Pasquale's siblings and ancestors.
Going back now to the descendants of Alesio FINO (B. ~1780 - Bef 1866) and Maria Giuseppa FERRUCCI (B. ~1780 - Bef 1866) for the final child to be located, Pasquale (1819 -1867). Pasquale was married 3 times. 1st to Maria Alberta COLAVITA (1826 - ~1852) on Feb 19 1852. Maria Alberta was the sister of his brother Francesco's wife, Carmina (who were my second great grandparents). Maria Alberta died shortly after this marriage and no children were located.
Pasquale then married Raffaela DIGIORGIO (~1821 - ~1860) on Sep 14, 1853. Raffaela was the widow of Carlo Maria CRIASIA (1818 - ~1852). They were married Feb 20, 1843 and were the grandparents of Antonio Maria CRIASIA/CREASIA who married Rosa FINO (my first cousin twice removed) on April 1, 1906 and moved to Milford. Pasquale & Raffaela had one child, Maria Giuseppa (B. 1854 - Aft 1910) who married Pasquale DELUCA (B. 1848) on Feb 10, 1873. Pasquale was the son of Michelarcangelo (1820 - 1875) and Anna Maria COLAGIOVANNI (1818 - 1870) who were married on Nov 9, 1840. I have not been able to locate any children for Maria Giuseppa and Pasquale DELUCA.
Pasquale FINO's third marriage was to Giovanna Maria BRIGLIA (1819 - Aft 1867) on March 14, 1861. Giovanna Maria was the widow of Giuseppantonio MIRANDA (1820 - ~1860). Based on her age, no children were expected and none were located.
Pasquale concludes my research into the FINO family in Casalvecchio. After tracking everyone noted in all the records available to me, I can say with a high degree of certainty that ALL FINOs that lived in Casalvecchio from 1810-1910 descend directly from Alesio FINO and Maria Giuseppa FERRUCCI, the parents of 5 known children and the grandparents of 27 grandchildren. https://www.wikitree.com/genealogy/Fino-Descendants-5
Many of their descendants migrated to the USA. Milford, Massachusetts was the most common destination. It appears that some significant number of their descendants stayed in Casalvecchio. A look through a recent town document about some land parcels still includes many FINO surnames.

Pasquale ANDREOLA'S (1841-1902) parents were Agostino (~1799-Bef 1866) and Antonia FRATTA (~1798-1866) who married on Feb 11, 1818. I am currently looking into this branch of the ANDREOLA family and will add much more later about Pasquale's siblings and ancestors.
Going back now to the descendants of Alesio FINO (B. ~1780 - Bef 1866) and Maria Giuseppa FERRUCCI (B. ~1780 - Bef 1866) for the final child to be located, Pasquale (1819 -1867). Pasquale was married 3 times. 1st to Maria Alberta COLAVITA (1826 - ~1852) on Feb 19 1852. Maria Alberta was the sister of his brother Francesco's wife, Carmina (who were my second great grandparents). Maria Alberta died shortly after this marriage and no children were located.
Pasquale then married Raffaela DIGIORGIO (~1821 - ~1860) on Sep 14, 1853. Raffaela was the widow of Carlo Maria CRIASIA (1818 - ~1852). They were married Feb 20, 1843 and were the grandparents of Antonio Maria CRIASIA/CREASIA who married Rosa FINO (my first cousin twice removed) on April 1, 1906 and moved to Milford. Pasquale & Raffaela had one child, Maria Giuseppa (B. 1854 - Aft 1910) who married Pasquale DELUCA (B. 1848) on Feb 10, 1873. Pasquale was the son of Michelarcangelo (1820 - 1875) and Anna Maria COLAGIOVANNI (1818 - 1870) who were married on Nov 9, 1840. I have not been able to locate any children for Maria Giuseppa and Pasquale DELUCA.
Pasquale FINO's third marriage was to Giovanna Maria BRIGLIA (1819 - Aft 1867) on March 14, 1861. Giovanna Maria was the widow of Giuseppantonio MIRANDA (1820 - ~1860). Based on her age, no children were expected and none were located.
Pasquale concludes my research into the FINO family in Casalvecchio. After tracking everyone noted in all the records available to me, I can say with a high degree of certainty that ALL FINOs that lived in Casalvecchio from 1810-1910 descend directly from Alesio FINO and Maria Giuseppa FERRUCCI, the parents of 5 known children and the grandparents of 27 grandchildren. https://www.wikitree.com/genealogy/Fino-Descendants-5
Many of their descendants migrated to the USA. Milford, Massachusetts was the most common destination. It appears that some significant number of their descendants stayed in Casalvecchio. A look through a recent town document about some land parcels still includes many FINO surnames.
