Hello,
I believe I have located the death record (#8) of my 2nd great grandfather Ferdinando Pastore and I would appreciate it if someone could translate this for me. I believe I also see mention of a Maria Bertola Pastore (his wife) as well as via Negri (my surname and the street they lived on in Piverone?). Does it say when he died, when and where he was buried or any other pertinent information? Felicita Pastore was his daughter and Giovanni was also my 2nd great grandfather which I think I see mentioned too. I hope the family search site will be helpful and that it copies well. If not I will try again. Thank you so much.
Best Regards,
jrbak or Mrs.Ray

Dear AngelaGrace56,
I am sorry to get back to you with so many days passing. Thank you so much for translating the death record as it is in fact the death record of my 2nd great grandfather, Ferdinando Pastore and now I know the name of his father and mother. It is so exciting to find this out. I am not certain of the relationship of Lorenzo- is he related to the deceased? Thank you so much for your help;it is so appreciated!

So pleased this is your 2nd grandfather's death recording. Exciting to learn more information from it.
Lorenzo Mongiovetto was the deceased father of Defendente Mongiovetto, who was one of the men who reported the death of your Ferdinando Pastore. It does not say how or even if Defendente and deceased Lorenzo were related. Often the people reporting and registering the death are not related to the deceased. Defendente may have been just an acquaintance, neighbour or friend.

Re: Help with translation of death record
Fantastic! Death Records are great. Just beware that because often the people reporting the death might not know the deceased very well, and especially as you go back further, that often there can be discrepancies in information provided, especially with the age of the deceased.jrbak wrote: 24 Jun 2019, 00:00 Thank you Angelagrace56,

Re: Help with translation of death record
Dear Angelagrace56,
Thank you! I feel am already experiencing this today as I think some of the relatives are mixed up on these documents. Like Domenica Negri with the Pastore's (inlaws) and vice versa Giovanni Negri mixed up with his (inlaws) )and they say his name is Pastore. Is this not unusual or am I just reading into it?
Thank you so much.

Re: Help with translation of death record
Hi there
I've just read your private message, and taken a look at your other threads here.
I think that you have to take this really slowly and work on one branch at a time, making sure that as you go back you have ticked off all the boxes, otherwise it could become confusing, muddly and time consuming trying to sort it all out. The name "Negri" is a popular name in Italy. (My roots are in the South and I have the name Negri/Negro in my history, and I doubt very much that we would be related.) The Christian name Giovanni is also a popular name, and so there could be several Giovanni Negri's all of similar ages, living at the same time, one of whom married a Maria Borghesio. (The name Maria is also a very popular name.) I think that you would enjoy the journey much more, and it would be easier, if you worked on one branch at a time, established each pedigree, and then branched out from there. You've got some really good records on line with really good indices which is a real plus.
I've had a quick look at Luigi Negri who married Enrichetta Pastore and located the following for you:
1893 Death Record No 4 Giovanni Negri (father of Luigi Negri) son of deceased Giuseppe:
Giovanni Negri, 75 yo, contadino (peasant), born and residing Piverone, was the son of the deceased Giuseppe Negri and of the deceased Paola Benedetto who both lived in Piverone in life. He was the widow of Domenica Bocca. He died on 24 January 1893.
(Note there is no mention of a Maria Borghesio here.)
So here you go back one more generation to Giuseppe Negri and Paola Benedetto.

1881 Death Record No 13 Domenica Bocca:
You can ask to have this record translated on a separate thread as I'm short of time. It will take you back a further generation. It lists Giovanni Negri as Domenica's husband, which confirms that it is the correct Domenica Bocca.

Re: Help with translation of death record
Dear Angela,
You will no doubt see my reply to you on another question that talks about this subject. I had not seen either of your replies so I don't want to repeat my response but to say I am so very grateful for all the work you have done for me in locating these records and letting me know where I need to be in my search. I am quickly realizing that there are so many of the same names for males and females and this can quickly lead you onto the wrong path- oh my!! I think that I did ask someone to help translate the 1881 Death Record No 13 of Domenica Bocca but now I am not certain so I am carefully going to examine all my threads(questions) and see before I duplicate it. I do have another question though which I will ask as a new question on the board (it has to do with Luigi's baptismal certificate).
Sincerely,
jrbak orJefferie
