Hi Cousin,

You are going to have to take lots of notes when you get into our Casalvecchio/Milford families --everyone connects in multiple times/ways. For instance, the branch that mmogno tied to last:
Nov 28, 1870 marriage of Giovannatonio Petrella to Domenica Maria Venditti
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903 ... cc=2043436

Domenica's parents were
Name: Domenica Maria
Christening Date: 29 Dec 1845
Christening Place: CIVILE, CASALVECCHIO DI PUGLIA, FOGGIA, ITALY
Birth Date: 28 Dec 1845
Father's Name: Michele Venditti
Mother's Name: Anna Maria Lupo
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:XKSC-BXN

They were married in 1833---note who Michele Venditti's mother was!
Name: Michele Venditti
Birth Date: 1809
Birthplace: Casalvecchio
Age: 24
Spouse's Name: Anna Maria Lupo
Spouse's Birth Date: 1809
Spouse's Birthplace: Casalvecchio
Spouse's Age: 24
Event Date: 08 Dec 1833

Spotted some red flags on my quick review---Their are TWO Michele Beccia's of near the same age living in Milford.

The WWII you noted is most likely for the OTHER MIchele with birth listed as
11 Jan 1895----
Michele Beccia (29) married Jenny COCCOI (24) on Nov 26,1925 in Milford. 1st for both.
Michele and Jennie on the 1940 living with Jenny's family Pacifico & Antoinette COSCIA
This Michele's WWII draft shows Jennie Beccia as his 'person' (14 1/2 Mt. Pleasant St.)

Your Michele married Anna DelSignore May 21,1922
Michele & Anna with Louis (0) on the 1930 at Beach St.
Alfred born June 8, 1935 to Michele & Anna DelSignore.
Michele & Anna with Louis (11) Nicholas (7) and Alfred (5) on the 1940

The fact that their first born (known) was Louis tends to connect this Michele to the birth record mmogno linked earlier.

AHA!
After reading through the Casalvecchio records and then seeing the note for the mother, Filomena PARENTE, I knew I needed to look elsewhere and sure enough....
Born August 16, 1894 NOT in Casalvecchio but in neighboring commune Casalnuovo Monterotaro! His parents were Luigi (fu Nicola) 32 years old and Filomena PARENTE (di Michele) 27 years old. https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903 ... cc=2043436

I can send you my shortcut sheets for Casalnuovo Monterotaro if you want to continue on your adventure! I'd be happy to give you some assistance in using them as well.

Excellent work mmogno! We all know that rule-outs are just as important as rule-ins! 8) and now there are TWO Michele Beccia families that have deeper insight into their ancestry because of your efforts!

I've recently retired from work and am devoting some of my new free time into my passion for genealogy. I've just located a Family History Center that is near enough to visit and have started going through the 1810-1865 Casalvecchio films.

Its great that they are available but it is kind of a PITA to not be able to go immediately to a file and answer a question on one of my late nite research sessions....instead just make a note and look the next time I can go to the FHC....

The first film I'm reviewing (1225 pages) appears to have mostly marriages, however things are a little jumbled and it starts with 1865 Morte records and then goes to 1810 Marriages. So far the 1814 & 1815 marriages are missing, the 1816 marriages has no index and only partial records but most of the other years seem solid.

I've copied the 1865 Morte index and all the marriage indexes found so far through 1830 and will copy all else I find on the film (only ~25% thru so far). This time period's indexes are in a different format than the 1866-1910's and contain more information directly on the index.

If any of you has any desire for a copy of a specific index--I'd be happy to send it to you.

I've finished looking through and saving copies of the indexes for the 1809-1854 Marriages film at the FHC.

If you go to a FHC, you can 'paste & go' directly to this film with this link:
https://www.familysearch.org/search/film/007965412

Some notes to help navigate this film a little more quickly.

Page 6-9 are indexes for 1865 DEATHS--records follow thru pg 51

Indexes for Marriages 1810 thru 1815 from pg 60-74--records for 1810 thru 1820 follow thru pg 224 (no indexes found for 1816-1820---this section is a little sketchy, the rest is much more orderly/organized)

Indexes for Marriages 1821 thru 1830 from pg 225-229--records follow thru pg 498

Indexes for Marriages 1831 thru 1840 from pg 499-528--records follow thru pg 824

Indexes for Marriages 1841 thru 1850 from pg 825-858--records follow thru pg 1093

Index for Marriages 1851 pg 1094--records follow thru pg 1131

Index for Marriages 1852 pg 1135--records follow thru pg 1169

Index for Marriages 1853 pg 1177--records follow thru pg 1198

Index for Marriages 1854 pg 1203--records follow thru end of film

I haven't found any earth shattering revelations yet but have significantly narrowed down some items I'm searching for--For instance my oldest known ancestors on the FINO line, Alesio FINO & Maria Giuseppa FERRUCCI's deaths have been honed down from 1819-1866 to Alesio's is between 1835-1841 and Maria Giuseppa's in between 1823-1836---so I guess that's something................

I've been doing a little more studying at the local Family History Center.
No one at this particular branch understood why the actual film #'s vs the web page's film # were different. For instance the link in the previous post says to film # 007965412 BUT to get to it by 'searching' for the actual film # you have to type in 001178117.......?

Without any answers to that, I started thrashing around a bit...really hoping to find some Casalvecchio MORTE records which would likely have some of the info I'm really in need of ...but no success and I only have this to share as a brief synopsis of whats been found so far;
Film #'s ---what they have
001178107 Casalnuovo Monterotaro Marriages
001178108 Casalnuovo Monterotaro Marriages
001178109 nothing came up in search
001178110 more Casalnuovo Monterotaro Marriages at the beginning thru to 1865-some Casalvecchio Births at the end.
001178111 Casalvecchio Births
001178112 Casalvecchio Births
001178113 Casalvecchio Births
001178114 Casalvecchio Births
001178115 nothing came up in search
001178116 nothing came up in search
001178117 Casalvecchio -see previous post
001178118 Casalvecchio Marriages 1855-1865 at the beginning-may be Foggia records at the end
001178119 Foggia (commune not province)
001178120 Foggia (commune not province)

Long overdue, but wanted to share some photos from our trip to Casalvecchio di Puglia last September. The town was quiet on our visit -- surrounded by farmland -- and I imagined it wasn't all that different from when my grandfather lived there. Even got chased away by a construction worker who must've thought we were spying on him in his pickup truck.

Thanks to my new "cousin" Nick Andreola, I was even able to track down my grandfather's birth address and snap a photo there. My dad recognized many of the last names etched on the war veteran statue (photo attached) from growing up in Milford, Mass. We only stayed a day, but as the first member of my family to travel to Casalvecchio since my grandfather left as a small child and moved to Milford, it was a trip of a lifetime.

Pete,

I'm so glad that you were able to make the trip! The pics are really cool--you in front of #17 is amazing! There were several Michele Andreola's (my GF) in this time frame---the one listed on the War Memorial probably is not my GF---he served in the US Army in WWI........

I'm really jealous  I want to visit so bad, but all the weirdness going on now has pushed my schedule back a bit--to ????????????.

I'll reply privately to your PM, but wanted to say to everyone about just how small a world it is....turns out Pete's family and mine were very close neighbors in Milford....his Dad grew up with mine...........the Tosches family lived on Archer--the Andreola's on Beach Ext.https://www.google.com/maps/@42.1387695 ... 342,18.75z

I'm working on a new project to try to gather everything & everybody in one place......it remains to be seen if the software or site management will allow what I envision.....I've already planned some work-arounds if what I'm attempting is too much.

This will be the home base for this project. https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Category ... cchio_List

I will be adding surnames to that list each day until the thousands of interlinked profiles currently created are on that alphabetical list so keep checking to see when your family is added!
