Assistance with a Latin surname of Petri Antonio Negro?

Post by jrbak »

Hello,
May I have some assistance with the surname of this Petri Antonio in this death record please. I believe it to be Negro. I looked at the B's on the page and I don't think it is a match and I do not believe I have seen a Begro or Regro Italian or Latin name in all the records I have come across. I think because of the water damage or bleed through it has been thickened with ink here. May I please get an opinion on this.

The N looks similar to the one in record # 231 here.

Yes, comparing the two records, I would agree that it is Negro. (The nib is really thick isn't it.)

Hi Angela, (AngelaGrace56),
Thanks so much for looking at this for me; I believe this might be my 7th great grandfather's death record. So it is exciting. I may have hit a brick wall though as I will not be able to find my 6th great grandfather Lorenzo Negro(Negri)'s baptismal record. Records go from 1624 to 1689 with nothing in between- they are missing and I cannot find him in the 89-90's so I believe it was between 1671-1689. Oh well, I will keep looking for all the rest though and to see if I can locate the fathers Petri Antonio Negro's marriage and maybe his birth which will help some. Anyhow, thanks so much and I will post that death record tomorrow.
Best Regards,

Happy to help. It was an easy one. :) It's disappointing when some of the records are missing. I have that with my records as well, in places. I seem to recall that with one of your films, in places, they were out of order. I can't remember which film it was, but I think I may have kept notes as I went along. I haven't got time to look through my notes at the moment but will take a look later as I need to go out shortly. Will say a little prayer that they are there.

Dear Angela,
Thanks so very much for your comments. Before you take the time, let me look for other records first to see if I can get any more information from the other relatives. There are some mixed up records but I have found a great way to track them so that is another reason I don't want to take your valuable time. I looked again this morning at the same baptismal records for the upteenth time and still cannot find them. I think maybe there was damage or? and I really think that they are missing not just in a different place. I wanted to show you the way I am tracking; it may be good for someone else who has a lot of records. It is time consuming but you don't have to keep going through the records at least for one surname a dozen plus times.

That looks like a good way of keeping tracks of what's on those two films. I usually copy and paste the links to either the index of each year, when there is an index, or to the start of each year. That way I can later click on the link, and it brings me straight to the year I'm needing. Just do what works for you.

With those Baptism records it seems like they were planning to continue filming and something must have happened. They filmed to 1627, and either they've lost the next film, if there was one, or the records were lost or not in a good condition to film?

Thanks again Angela (AngelaGrace56),
I believe you are correct. I didn't want to post too many attachments but I also do the same as you with the links. I know it is a great deal of steps but it helps.
