Assistance with Latin translation of 1615 baptismal record for Petri Nigro

Post by jrbak »

Hello,
I am in need of some assistance with the baptismal record of Giovanni Battista Nigro.

I believe it is dated 4 December (xbris?) 1615:
was baptized Giovanni Battista son of Petri and Libere? spouses Nigro, whose father was Domenico Borghesio? (meaning her father)? What does Libere mean in Italian?

https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903 ... cat=442795

I appreciate any help.

patrinus fuit dominus Petrus de Borghesio
"

On 4 December Giovanni Battista was baptized, the son of Pietro and Libera, spouses De Nigro.
Godfather was Mr. Pietro de Borghesio

The name "Libero/a" means free

Dear Mmogno,
Thank you so much for the translation both in Latin and English. Thanks for the correction on my error thinking this was her father. I have not seen this name Libera before; maybe an old name. I hope I can find out who her father might be. Thanks for your help today.
