Translation of word "Imbastaro ; bardaro"

Post by edilalla142 »

My family lines trace back to Casacalenda, Molise. Family GGF's made ( shoes, horse saddles) cannot find any direct translation of the two words. Is it an Italian dialect issue.

thanks ed

A "Bardaro" was an artisan who worked leather to make all accessories for horses or donkeys (saddles, reins...); this is considered an Italian word
An "Imbastaro" made packsaddles; maybe "bastaro" is more "Italian"
