How long did it take after you requested the birth certificate

Post by Mercedes21 »

I requested a birth certificate/church record and was replied they were going to look for it as soon as possible, but haven't heard from them since. I included the aproximate year, comune, name and parent's names. I also asked them to inform me of any costs.

On my end I have gathered all the other necessary information to claim citinzenship and I'm sure I qualify (minus the translations, because I will order them as soon as I receive a reply from Genova). It took me so much less time to locate all the other documents than for them to find just this one, I'm worried. My question is, how long is too long to wait? Should I insist? Do I need to find someone living nearby and send them in person? Would that help?

I do qualify as well on the other side of my mom's family, but need I to go through a third country where they resided (I did find and dowloaded the only document I need from there, but I need to requet it officially, etc. and I think I need to certify he didn't renouncee citinzenship, why would a baker need to do it?) and in this case, even though it's a closer ancestor, I don't know the exact place of birth, only the region.

What would be the best way to insist they look for the certificate?
