Hello,
I came across this marriage record of my 3x great-grandparents and I noticed this interesting tidbit about the father of the bride:
"Pasquale Romeo morto nell'epoca del primo Brigantaggio tra le [something] di [something]"
What does that mean? Where can I read more of this? (If anything just so I can estimate his date of death.)
Thanks,
MC

I'm not sure whether this may help, but, amongst the 1821 allegati for Anna Romeo's marriage, i.e. Catarina's sister, is the following church death record for Pasquale Romeo, Anna's father. It doesn't give a lot of information but it says he died in 1806, and his father was the deceased Giovanni. It doesn't include wife Faustina's name though, so I personally can't be 100% sure that the priest has sent in the correct Death Record?
Died in 1806: http://dl.antenati.san.beniculturali.it ... ewsIndex=0

"tra le carceri di Monteleone" = "in jail, in Monteleone"

Oh wow, that's awesome! Any idea what l'epoca del primo Brigantaggio is? I've done some google searching and haven't come up with anything.

I think it approximates to robbery. Someone more fluent than I may correct this though.
Re: "l'epoca del pprimo Brigantaggio"
L'epoca del primo Brigantaggio refers to the Calabrian insurrection against the Napoleonic Kingdom of Naples. The conflict lasted from around 1806 to 1811. Sounds like your ancestor might have been a Bourbon loyalist.
