Help with Marriage Bann

Post by jml1991 »

Hi all,

I am seeking help with attached marriage bann from 1672 for Francesco Cammarata and Rocca (last name?). It looks like both have been married previously: Francesco to Francesca Bonaffini and Rocca to Marco di Blasi. I think Francesco's father is Battista, and Rocca's father is Filippo. I cannot make out a mother's name for either of them. Any help with this and/or corrections if I have misunderstood anything else would be much appreciated. Thank you!

Rocca Simafonti, daughter of Francesco and Francesca.
Simafonti seems to be a rare surname, not present in Italian White Pages, but with some references on Google, in Sicily.
What is weird is that the groom is said to be the son "delli qnd" (plural) but only one name of parents (Battista) is mentioned.
Giuseppe "Pippo" Moccaldi

Thank you so much, PippoM! Yes, the unusual surname threw me -- I've been researching my family tree in Pietraperzia, Sicily for years now and thought I knew every surname in the town, but this is a new one for me. I also checked the Italian White Pages, with several different spellings as I was not sure I was reading it correctly, and came up with nothing.
Thanks for confirming the name, and also for deciphering the name of Rocca's mother, Francesca. Much appreciate your efforts!

Oh, and thank you for identifying Rocca's father as Francesco. I mistakenly thought it was Filippo, as I confused it with the similar (to me) word preceding his name.
