No Parents on the death record

Post by rp76226 »

Record # 43 on the right hand side for Giuseppe Cascio. Near the bottom, where it is preprinted "figli" for figlio or figlia, where the parents would normally be listed, it is crossed out and some words are put there. What do those words say? Was he an orphan? Seems strange not to list the parents. His first child was born in March 1820, the year civil records started in Polizz Generosa, so he would have been married prior to 1820 and therefore there is no civil marriage record to tell me his parents eitther:

This is an odd one. They indicate that they received news of the death of Giuseppe Cascio, which sounds like it occurred elsewhere, although when that happens the death is usually recorded in the death location and a copy is transcribed into the register where he is domiciled. It doesn't reference another death act. In any event, it's a nonstandard death act so they have lined out pretty much everything after the opening sentence and made it like a blank sheet of paper. It doesn't mention his parents anywhere, and appears to also indicate that his age is unknown. "Giuseppe Cascio di anni ____, contadino..." The only thing that appears to be known is that he was a peasant farmer domiciled there.
