Translation of Birth Record Emilia Cavallaro

Post by bressi123 »

Hi again, I also found my great-great grandmother's birth record. Her name is Emilia Cavallaro. Would you be able to also help translate? Her information is half on one page and half on another. This is new territory for me so her parents names will be totally brand new to my family. No one has been able to go back this far. Thank you :)

Birth No 54: Emilia, Vincenza Marianna Cavallaro

Registerd in Pellaro on 29 September 1870

Appearing was Don (Title) Gregorio Cavallaro, son of the deceased Antonio (Cavallaro), 40 yo, Pharmacist, living in Pellaro. He presented a baby girl, who he reported was born on 27 September from his wife, Donna (Title) Maria Palaia, 36 yo, daughter of the deceased Francesco (Palaia), born in the house they lived in this town, in Via Lume, to which daughter they gave the name Emilia Vincenza Marianna.

Great job! It brings you back not just one, but two generations. :D

My advice to you, if you are just starting out, is to always look first for the marriage record of the parents of the child. It will have the names of each of the bride and grooms parents. That way you can be sure that this is the correct Emilia Cavallaro. The parents on this birth record should match the parents listed in the marriage record. Death records are another way of ensuring you have the correct people as they normally list both parents and also a respective spouse.

(Also, when asking for translations, it's fine to post an image, but if you have access to the online record, please post the link to that online record. It's much easier to work with. (If you are using ancestry, then do post both the image and the link as we don't all have access to Ancestry.com. These records should probably be on Family Search as well, anyways, I haven't checked.)
