Having problems with the Italian language? Do you need help to translate or understand an old family document? There is always someone who can help you!
on the 21st August in front of Augusto Sindraco? Caselette, in the town hall of Sant'Antonino di Susa, stood
Antonio Maritano a 55 year old farmer who lived in the commune and Silvestro Civeca a 43 year old ? also from the town.
They reported the death of Clementa Maritano, a farmer who lived in the town but was born in Sant'Ambrogio, Turin. She was the daughter if Antonio Maritano and Angela Listello ...farmers.
Probably got all that wrong, and for sure I couldn't translate much at all
On August 31, 1879 before me, Augusto Caselette, mayor, in the town hall of Sant'Antonino di Susa, appeared Antonio Maritano, a 55 year old farmer who lived in the commune and Silvestro Civeca a 43 year old also from the commune.
They reported that at 11 a.m. yesterday (August 30) Clementa Maritano, age 19, died in her home on Via Provinciale #25. She was a farmer who lived in the town and was born in Sant'Ambrogio di Torino. She was the daughter of the aforesaid Antonio (Maritano) and Angela Listello farmers domiciled in this commune. She was unmarried.
"Sindaco" means mayor. They appeared on August 31, but down where it mentions the death you see the word "ieri" which means yesterday. The last part of the report on her death refers to her as "nubile." That means that she was unmarried. The "aforesaid Antonio" reference indicates that the declarant was her father, and not potentially some other Antonio.
Thank you once again bbivona for the accurate translation, I am pleased that I managed to get some bits correct and to know I am picking things up although quite slowly.

I had started looking at this before you posted bbivona. Take a look at the signatures. I'm reading Silvestro Ciocia.

After looking at the signatures, mine is definitely not correct. Is it Ciocia or Ciocca? There's a clear dot over the "i" but clearly not one over the second to last letter, both in the text and in the signature. Silvestro seems like the witness of choice, appearing in most of the deaths for several pages preceding this one. If you go back to records 28 and 29 it's someone else's handwriting doing the recording and to me looks like Ciocca there. There's never a dot over a second "i".

Good spotting! I believe you are correct. Yes I'd say Ciocca is the correct name.
