May 13, 1876 at 10:10 a.m. at the town hall in Orsogna appeared

Gioacchino Damiano, age 23, farmer, born in Orsogna, resident in Orsogna, son of Filippo (Damiano), deceased, in life a resident of this comune, and of Maddalena Angelo, resident of this place, and

Concezia Penna, age 28, farmer, born in Orsogna, resident in this comune, daughter of Luigi (Penna), resident in Orsogna, and of Camilla d’Alleva, resident of Orsogna

who requested to be united in marriage. All documents having been filed, the spouses took their vows before witnesses Eugenio Vozzo, age 64, landowner, and Filippo d’Angelo, age 50, farmer, both residents of this comune. The documents presented included certification of the publications of intent, first on April 30 and second on May 7.

The spouses declared that a daughter was born of their union who was presented as a child of an unknown mother, reported on October 13, 1872 as Maddalena Damiano, and have declared that with the present act they recognize her as their own child with the effect of legitimizing her birth. To the said marriage only the consent of the mother of the groom is given, not being able to obtain the father’s.

The act read to the participants, only the witnesses signed because the spouses and the groom’s mother do not know how to write.
