Re: Help with another Maritano translation
I've just made a few changes. I believe the spelling is "pristinaio" in the records, but it can also be spelt "prestinaio". I found the following information. Hopefully it is accurate: https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/prestinaiobbivona wrote: 20 Sep 2020, 18:28 #10
May 25, 1882 at town hall in Sant’Ambrogio, appeared Luigi Favretti, age 31, pristinaio, domiciled in Sant’Ambrogio, and Giovanni Chiandano, age 27, servant, domiciled in Sant’Ambrogio, who declared that at 2:30 a.m. May 24, in the home in Borgo inferiore #70 (lower village), Vittorina Maritano died, age 3 months, resident of Sant’Ambrogio, born in Sant’Ambrogio daughter of Domenico (Maritano), farmer, resident of Sant’Ambrogio, and of Maria Maritano, farmer, resident of Sant’Ambrogio.
I came across pristinaio yesterday in a record and came to the conclusion that it was a baker that may have ground his/her own flour? Anyways, both miller and baker were used to define the occupation pristinaio. (I can't locate the article now. It wasn't the one I posted here.)
