Oh, my mistake. I don't have a subscription to Ancestry. I'll have to get to the library one of these days. Thanks anyway!

I did find this to be of interest,

1910 United States Federal Census Record

Estimated birth year: abt 1883
Home in 1910: 4-Wd Montclair, Essex, New Jersey

Dan is living with James Degironomo, age 22, wife Mary, age 15/16, and brother Dan Degironomo, age 25.............so maybe we will stumble onto something....

Thanks so much, Lisa. I truly appreciate your fine sleuthing skills! I also appreciate your offer to check Ancestry for me - I won't take advantage!

Very interesting information in the manifest. I didn't even think that Angelo - my great-grandfather - could have traveled with relatives. I really know nothing before Angelo's generation or that anyone else in the family traveled to the USA. It makes sense, though. It would be so cool to find out my great great grandfather's name! But, Angelo had three sons - Pasquale was the oldest, then Michele in the middle, and the youngest is Ciro. There were also four girls. I assume that Angelo's father was Pasquale and perhaps my grandfather is named after his maternal grandfather.

The census information bears looking into as well - those names sound like they could be related to those in Shroud97's post. I hope he answers me and we can compare notes.

Thanks again!

Lisa - where did you get that manifest info? I just checked the Ellis and Castle Garden sites and came up with nothing. I'd really like to see it, if you can let me know. Thanks.

Hey Nunsiata-
Those DiGeronimos in the census are indeed my family; Vincenzo went as James and his brother Donato went as Dan. I also find the immigration records interesting, as the brother's father's name was Giuseppe, and he was born in 1836. Unfortunately I don't know the names of any of his siblings. However, as I mentioned, I have been working with the registri dello stato civile in Lacedonia, and I have quite a few miscelleneous DiGeronimos in my records, some of whom I wrote down for the sake of being thorough; others were false leads.

I have one Pasquale Di Geronimo, born Mar. 26, 1864, the son of Gelsumino and Anna Antonia LaVacca. I also have an Angelo, born July 30, 1810, the son of Michele. He was married to Maria Giuseppa di Vietro. Unfortunately, chances are I don't have your Di Geronimos in my records, as they were one of the more numerous families in Lacedonia during the 1800's. I do still have access to the birth records from 1834-1855, and hopefully I will soon have the marriages from 1809-1846, so if there was anything you wanted me to check for I would be happy to take a look sometime in the next couple weeks.

For the passenger list:

This database is an index to the passenger lists of ships arriving from foreign ports at the port of New York from 1851-1891 and 1935-1938. In addition, the names found in the index are linked to actual images of the passenger lists, copied from the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) microfilm, M237, rolls 95-580 and T715, rolls 5592-6267.

From 1855 to 1890 Castle Garden served as a processing station for immigrants. This database includes the Castle Garden passenger lists.
