Translation of Death Registry for Chiara Giuranello

Post by italianmom »

Please translate the following death registry:

http://dl.antenati.san.beniculturali.it ... 8.jpg.html

Image 18 #66

Please provide date, time, place of death; place of birth.
Her parents were unknown.

How come there aren't any birth registries for people with unknown parents? They are given a birth date.

Thank you.

Death No 66: Chiara Giuranello
Registered Orsogna on 26 April 1873

Chiara Giuranello, 24 yo (b. circa 1849), contadina, born in Chieti, living in Orsogna, was the daughter of unknown parents, the wife of Francesco di Rico. She died at 1 am on 26 April 1873.

When you say: "How come there aren't any birth registries for people with unknown parents? They are given a birth date."

I'm not sure what you mean? Tell us more. There are endless Birth Records for children of unknown parents.

In the case of Chiara Giuranello, you need to be searching the town of Chieti circa 1849. If you don't find her amongst the Birth Registers in Chieti, then look in the Diversi Registers in Chieti. For this time frame, often birth records of abandoned children etc were kept there. At some point it would be a good idea to go through the Diversi records anyway. (I'll find you some info about the Diversi Records and Part II records and will post them here for you to look at.)

The following thread discusses what sort of records you may find in the Supplementary Records post 1866 and the earlier Diversi Records. If you scroll down to the post by "Carubia" s/he covers it really well.

12 August 1846 Birth of Chiara Giuranello: http://dl.antenati.san.beniculturali.it ... ewsIndex=0

She was a foundling, appeared in good health. If you want it translated, just post it separately and someone will take a look at it for you. It probably won't tell you much more than you already know though.

The document is called: Atto di rinvenimento di fanciulli viventi esposti fuori gli Ospedali de' proietti, o portati nelle ruote degli Ospedali medesimi

Thank you Angela! That was very interesting about Entries after Birth Records. I will have to look in the Diversi records for my great grandfather. Thank you for sending me the birth link for Chiara.
