Marriage of Riccardo Dell'olio-translation request

Post by timfly »

Hello, I am slowly starting to get the hang of reading Italian cursive of the period but could still use some assistance. If you please.

Marriage No 136: Riccardo Dell’Olio and Agnese Messina
Bisceglie, 9 August 1882

Before the official appeared:

Groom: Riccardo Dell’Olio, 27 yo, marinaio (seaman), born in Bisceglie, residing in said town, son of the deceased Pietrantonio, who had resided in Bisceglie when living, and of Lucia Dell’Olio, residing in said town.
Bride: Agnese Messina, 21 yo, filatrice, born in Bisceglie, resdiing in said town, daughter of Onofrio, and of Natalina Abbattista, both residing in said town.

The other two names there are just the witnesses. The note at the bottom is specifying when the marriage banns were posted. The first was posted on 16 July, the second on 23 July 1882.

Then it basically says that the act was read out to those present, but, they did not sign because they were unable to write. Only the official has signed the document.

Thank you Angela,

If I may be so bold as to request for you to transcribe only the maiden names of the mothers of both the bride and groom:

Tim, the reason why you can find them is because the left side numbering is just keeping a talley. It's not the Act Number. You need to look at the right column and go by the date, so

Lucia Dell'Olio - born on 8 April

Pietrantonio Dell'Olio - born 27 July 1816

I'll take a look for you.

Birth No 336 Pietrantonio Dell'Olio, born 22 July 1816: http://dl.antenati.san.beniculturali.it ... ewsIndex=0

Lucia wasn't where she was meant to be. I'll take another look later.

Sorry, I realised after I'd posted this that I'd gone to the wrong year, so ignore the above 1816 birth record with the wrong parents on it.

Here's the correct one, which I had originally found and then lost again.

1815 Birth No 344 Pietrantonio Dell'Olio, born 27 July 1815 as previously stated: http://dl.antenati.san.beniculturali.it ... ewsIndex=0

Here's Lucia's birth record. She was born in May not April so that's why I didn't initially locate it.

1818 Birth No 182: Lucia dell’Olio
Registered and Born 8 May 1818

Father: Andrea dell’Olio, 34 yo, marinaro (seaman), living Strada basso il Porto.
Mother: Elisabetta Confalone, his legimate wife, 32 yo.
