Translation of Military Record

Post by italianmom »

Please translate the military record of my grandfather Alberto Virgilio that is attached. I can read the left hand side.
Please translate the center section. What is the last month on the right hand side? December 24, 1915?

Thank you very much. Handwriting was difficult to read in spots and with it being faded in others it was hard so read.

Please translate this whole document. I had to crop what was on the left to get it to fit to send to you.

I google translated what you sent me.
Can you explain how your military service works please?

He was placed on unlimited leave on 19.05.1909.
Was called to arms and arrived on 11.15.1909.
Was sent on unlimited leave on 25.10.1911.
Declared that he served with fidelity and honor on 12.11.1911.
Call to arms for the 85 infantry regiment on 05.08.1912.
Sent on unlimited leave on 23.02.1913.
Was dispensed from the call 02.14.1914 because he went abroad with a regular passport on 08.08.1914 (He was on a passenger ship to the U.S. April 11, 1913)
Was called to arms and did not arrive with justifiable notice on 10.05.1915.
Was he supposed to serve twice?
Declared a deserter on 05.15.1915.

The left side of the document which I did not send said he was repatriated to the Detroit, Michigan (in the USA) on March 18, 1913.
If he was repatriated why was he expected to come back to Italy to serve again in the military?

Thank you for clarifying the document and answering my questions.
