Marubbi from Bardi, Emilia Romagna, Italy

Post by granmarann »

I'm hoping someone can help me trace my husbands Italian ancestors.
His grandfather Armando Marubbi b.15 Sep 1882 in Bardi settled in Wrexham with his brother Aldo (b.20 Jan 1884 in Bardi) in the early 1900's where they established an ice cream business. Armando married Teresina Polleschi (b.1 Sep 1892 in Italy) in 1911 in Chester. Their marriage certificate tells me that Armando's father was Augustine, an architect and Teresina's father was John, a farmer. My husband thinks that Teresina's family came from southern Italy. Any information about the family or an idea of where to look would be wonderful as I have hit brick walls with all his grandparents. Thankyou.

Here is the "Stato delle Anime" (a sort of Census) of year 1886.

https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903 ... cat=521763

Agostino Bardi was 49 and a "Perito Negoziante"
His wife was Catterina Castolla, 29 years old,
and their children Rosa, Ines, Ermando, and Aldo

Civil records are here

https://www.familysearch.org/search/cat ... %20Library

but can be seen only at Family History Centers of the Mormon Church.

As to Agostino's job, "negoziante" is a trader/shopkeeper, and "perito" is an expert of some subject. Paricularly, at that time, a "perito" often meant a land surveyor
Giuseppe "Pippo" Moccaldi
