TRANSLATION: Birth #11, 1896 - Elisa Marta Aiudi

Post by hallsandgrants »

Greetings, I would like to get a narrative translation of "Atti di Nascita" record #11 for Elisa Marta Aiudi from Isola Del Piano dated 1896. I am a newbie and a detailed translation of the entire document would be very helpful to me, to include the pre-printed portions (it will help me to read other documents in the future).

Please see record #11 (pages 11-12 of 40) in either the link below or image attachments below. If you cannot read the attached images then click on the link, scroll to record 11, and enlarge it. Grazie! Eric

On Feb 28th, 1876, at 3pm, in the Town Hall.
Before me, Fedele Federici, Town Clerk (appointed by) deed of Jan 1st, 1866, appeared Clito Aiudi, 31 years old, peasant, domiciled in Isola del Piano, who declared that at 11:30am of day 26 of current month, in the home situated at 31, vocabolo Guaralda ("vocabolo" is a local word for "hamlet", or "village"), a female baby was born of his wife Assunta Girolamoni, housewife, living with him, that (the baby) doesn't show me, and whom he gives names Elena Marta.

I've just been looking at the translation as well, so will post it here and hopefully between what Pippo has written and what I have written, we just might have it perfect. Pippo has also answered a question for me about the abbreviation before Guaralda, which is great.

Birth No 11: Elisa Marta Auidi

Registered: 1896, on 28 February, at 3 pm, before the official, in the town of Isola del Piano.

Appearing was Clito Aiudi, of age 31, contadino (peasant) living in Isola del Piano, who declared that 11.30 am, on 26 of the current month, in the house situated in ...? Guaralda, No 31, from Assunta Girolomoni, his wife, a casalinga (domestic) living with him, was born a baby of female sex, who he did not present to the official, and to whom he gave the name Elisa Marta.

The witnesses to the registration were Pio Ravagli, 50 yo, calzolaio and Annunziata Tontini, 28 yo, levatrice (midwife).

The declarant was given a dispensation from presenting the baby, by the official, given the excessive distance (ie from where the baby had been birthed), after having ascertained the truth of the declaration.

Having read the Act, those who were present then signed it, along with the official, with the exception of the declarant who was illiterate.

Before the place of birth – Guaralda – there is an abbreviation and I can’t think at the minute what it might be. It might just be Via Guaralda (or Vicolo), as it is in some of your other records but it was obviously a distance from where the registration took place. You might like to research this further.

I believed I had completed the translation, but in fact I hadn't.
