Adoption Records?

Post by Frannybu »

Hello.

Would anyone know if they kept adoption records in the late 1800’s? My grandfather Francesco Abruzzo (probably not his birth name), was adopted. As far as we know he was born January 14 or 15, 1890.

Thank you.

First of all, there may be some annotation on his birth record.
Do you know where he was born?

IF there was a formal adoption, which was rare, it would be in the DIVERSI records.

PippoM, I think he was born in Sciacca, Sicily.
