Where do I write?

Post by calabresi »

My 3rd great-grandmother, Angela Marra, died in Reggio Calabria in 1877. In the 1877 Morti Stato Civile Reggio Calabria, her death record is listed as record 719. However, there appears to be a significant gap in digitized records, specifically, records 107 to 724 are missing.

I have consulted with a professional genealogist and we have agreed that the next best course of action is to write to Reggio Calabria to see if I can get a copy of the death act. I just don't know where to address the request, and I'm not doing well in searching/browsing the official Reggio Calabria site.

Can someone please help me get the address/person I should write to? Letter or email is fine.

(Yes, I have searched antenati, familysearch.org, and the diocese records. None of the records that would be helpful in this case are digitized.)

Thanks

The comune of Reggio Calabria offers this form (attached) to request a full copy (copia integrale) of the record. They ask you to provide a copy of a valid ID.
Mail the form to:

Città di Reggio Calabria
Servizi Demografici
Palazzo San Giorgio
89125-Reggio Calabria, Italia

If you need a translation, be sure to ask, as the folks here will be happy to help.

OK, I've had a chance to look at this and I have a general idea of how I should fill this out, but I need help as to how specific I should get. On the second page, I should check the first box "in quanto sono trascorsi 70 anni...", but do I have to check any of the subsequent boxes and provide supplemental documentation? If so, what do I need to provide?

Thanks,
MC

No need to check subsequent boxes or to provide supplemental information. Provide your ID, and check the box "ad altra persona",(above) and complete the line that follows.
Let us know how it goes.

UPDATE: I got a response back today, about ten weeks after I sent it out. They were able to provide me with a copy of the record, which I am immediately going to scan and file away in a safe place before I look for it. Thank you again for all of your help!
