Hi Deigo1
Just a quick message. There should be a Lista di Leva for Vittoria in the Province of Mantova, where Vittorio Menossi was born. Hopefully it will be a straightforward find, because the lists, which contained the names of all the baby boys born were compiled by year of birth. This is why it is important to know at least the year of birth that a male was born in. If he was registered at birth, and we know Vittorio was, his name will be on that list, regardless of whether he was in the armed forces or not. The archivist will look at the relevant register containing the 1882 births and look for his name. (If the registers are anything like the ones I’ve seen/worked with, they are fascinating, huge, heavy and can be really dusty if they haven’t been stored properly.) Besides his name, birth date, town of birth etc, the register will show any outcome of his call to serve at age 20/21? Whenever I’ve written to my Province I have heard back within a day or two. It’s been 3 to 4 years since I last requested a military record but normally there was a fee to cover the cost of photocopying and postage. Hopefully they will email the information to you which should cut the cost.
BTW: In case you didn't realise, there are military lists on line, for the Province of Parma, which you can only view at a Family History Centre or Affiliate Library:

Also, there's quite a good article here about Liste di Leva, which I now wish I had read before my somewhat inadequate explanation:
