This is a project for my Y Haplogroup.
By paper trail, my surname line is pure Sicilian back some seven generations (1700s).
Only one of the 258 members is from Italy.
Would you take this as confirmation that my Y haplogroup has ancient origins in the UK, likely Scotland?

I'd go with the law of averages and say yes. I have a Sicilian friend whose mother had some Scottish (apparently from a seaman that decided to remain in Italy)...

I know you have more interest in the maternal line but did you look at this map?

My earliest known direct paternal ancestor was born in far western Germany in 1566.
The family surname was changed by his grandson in the 1600's and later also adopted by the grandson's father. He changed it based on where he was from when he emigrated to the New World...
