Grandmother's birth record
Grandmother's birth record
Would greatly appreciate help reading my Grandmother's parent's names. It looks like my GGM name is "Teresa Lardiello", but all I can make out of my GGF's name is LaCapra. Any help would be appreciated.
From what I have read about the Nati there isn't much information aside from the parent's names to glean from this correct? Meaning it would be hard to go back a generation to find further birth certificates?
Thank you for any assistance.

Yes, Teresa Lardiello is correct and your grandmother's father was Rocco Giuseppe La Capra. I've translated the record for you below to help you understand the types of things that can be included in birth records. Sometimes more information is given, like the fathers of the parents of the child (ie child's grandfathers), and sometimes not. In this case not. The content can change from town to town, and also during different time periods. If you want to go back further, the next step would be for you to locate Rocco Giuseppe and Teresa's marriage record which will contain the names of each of their parents. I'll take a look for it later if you like, to start you off, and will add some information on Italian Civil Records as a guide as well. We are always here to help with the translations and offer guidance/resouces.
Birth No 68: Rosa La Capra
Registered in Tolve, 28 March 1898
Carolina Abruzzese, 64 yo, midwife, living in Tolve, reported that at 3.20 pm on 25 March 1898, in the house in Via San Michele, without number, from Teresa Lardiello, 34 yo, donna di casa – woman of the house/undertook domestic duties, legitimate wife of Rocco Giuseppe La Capra, 33 yo, proprietario (landowner), both residents of Tolve, was born a baby girl, who she presented and gave the name of Rosa.

I understand what you are saying, and in many ways I agree. I feel though, that in this case it is different, because this is the poster's first post. She may very well have revisited this post over the past few weeks and not signed in. She was probably waiting for the administrators to accept her first post. I noticed that there has been quite a backlog of first posts, from new forum members, that had got lost in the queue, possibly because they were waiting for their first posts to be accepted. Just my thinking here. (It it is possible that administrators are busy or maybe unwell. Life happens.)
(In the past I have gone to a lot of time and trouble to answer posts, whether they were first or not, and the poster has not replied to my posts. What I tend to do now is just locate one or two records, like I did here, and then after the poster has replied, time permitting, I locate more, because like you say if the poster doesn't come back to read the reply, it is times wasted that could be used to help others who are really interested, and appreciate what has been found. Hope this makes sense.)
Hope you are well.
Angela
BTW: On this forum here, which you contributed to, there is a really interesting post about the Montemurro deaths from 1857 Earthquake. The poster is new, and the post is dated 30 January 2023. I can only see the post if I click on my "notifications". Obviously, the poster is still waiting for the post to be approved.

Hello @mmogno and @AngelaGrace56,
Thank you so much for your efforts. I apologize it has been awhile since I logged on. Angela was correct that I was waiting for the post to be approved and I missed this. I have not used this site before and did not understand how to easily return.
I am still reading through all of this incredibly helpful information. Will digest it and then see what to look for next. My grandmother passed away when my father was one in 1938. I have only recently have I found any information about her so this truly means a great deal to me.
Thank you again, so much!
