Isma from Belluno

Post by jptrump »

I am searching for the parents and ancestors of Lucille Isma, born 17 Jun 1860, Belluno. Family moved to Venice; Lucille married Jacob Zelle in Venice and gave birth to their first son, Minato about 1881. Immigrated to Mexico about 1882.

There are 23 persons in the province of Belluno but not in the city of Belluno its' capital surnamed Isma. If you know for certain the city or town of origin then you can proceed to locate records in the churches since Italy was not unifed until 1873 when civil records weere introduced in the North of Italy. However, it may be that certain cities, towns or villages in ther north because of history, geography and foreign occupation had civil records. The best thing to do in this case may be to first go to the nearest Family Histoiry Library of the Mormon church nearest your home and rent microlfims for the place of origin (Belluno? or province of Belluno?) if any, and see if they maintained civil records. If they did not then the church records in the town of origin is your next step since records have been kept by order of the Council of Trent in the 1600's starting in1700. If you go to www.paginebianche.it and insert Isma in the first line and BL in the third line(Belluno province) you will get the names, addresses and telephone numbers of all the 23 Isma's.If you know the town then there is no problem. If you do not know for certain where in belluno the birth did occur then youmight consider wirting to each of the 23 persons and asking them if they are related to yyou with one generic letter and include a dollar inside a self addressed envelope so that they will be encouraged to answer you.
