Parmini surname

Post by sirparzival »

Hello, hello!

I have been having some trouble (especially due to the extension of the existing records) finding the baptism records for the following:

- Giuseppe Parmini, a magister domorum born in the City of Rome around 1630. His father was Francesco Parmini, a shopkeeper from Firenze (duchy and city) and his wife, Angela.

I have also not been able to find much information on the surname, which might not be written correctly, as the records in which I have found this information are in a different language (still a Romance language).

Any suggestions or help will be extremely appreciated (I have already checked part of the records of Santa Maria del Fiore, but haven't found much).

Thanks!

The DIocese of Rome has records for all parishes before 1930. You have to know the parish to ask them to do a look up! Even if you go in person the limit is 4 books a day for research.

Then I'm in for a treat :) Because I do not know the specific parish, as it was so long ago...

If you know the address or area where they lived you could narrow down the parish.

I wish I knew more information about them, but this is really all I have to work with:
https://prnt.sc/98Hk0Y8M25Xy

(Essentially; January 21st, 1652 [...] Jusep Parminio [Joseph Parmini], shoemaker, son of Francisco Parminio, shopkeeper and Angela, his wife, from the city and duchy of Florence, both alive [...]).

And this (his son's marriage):
https://prnt.sc/aTf5JggvBtsf

(Essentially; January 23rd, 19680 [...] Ramon Parmini, notary, son of Joseph Parmini, natural from the City of Rome, and Madgalena Sabater [...]).

Since both Roma and Firenze are really big cities compared to the ones I'm used to browse, it's really difficult to pinpoint the precise parish or area where the family lived.

From the looks of it, Joseph came to Spain as part of a batallion of sorts (especially because the one to hand the marriage license was his commanding officer). It's also curious to note that in the baptism of one of his daughterm the godfather is also someone from Rome, which makes me think Joseph still had some contact with his natal city, or maybe it was just a fellow soldier that had also stayed in the same city.

Since Parmini is, and I quote "Assolutamente rarissimo, sembrerebbe lombardo", I thought it would be easier to locate, but I have no idea where to even begin.
