Information on Fiorintino Olivo

Post by to9412 »

Hi everyone, this is the first time I'm using this forum, and I would love some help in tracing my Italian family ancestry if possible.

The information I have:

Fiorintino Olivo (1875 to 1973)
Born in Campania area of Italy, thought to be close to Naples/Salerno
Emigrated from Italy to the UK pre 1911 census (estimated about 1900)
Died in Hackney, London, 11th Feb 1973

Fiorintino is my Great Grandad! Hopefully there is some hidden information here that can help me continue with my search. Any or all help will be much appreciated!

Thanks
Terry

It's a hard search!
In the enlistments of the province of Salerno there are two:

Oliva Fiorentino parents:Emiddio e Amato Nunziata pob:Scala dob: 22/04/1869

Oliva Fiorentino Saverio e Salvato Anna Roccapiemonte 28/01/1883
Giuseppe "Pippo" Moccaldi

Certificate requests and genealogical researches in Italy.
Translation of your (old) documents and letters.
Legal assistance in Italy for your Italian citizenship.

Hello Terry,
this is such a wonderful piece of info. I think we might be related!!!! According to my records, I have a Fiorentino Oliva, who was my great-great uncle who migrated to the UK.
My grandfather, Cosmo Oliva was searching for his Uncle, a certain Fiorentino Oliva, who migrated to England.
Fiorentino was the child of my nonno's father's brother.
I have some hand written letters from my nonno to the Commune in Scala, to see if he could find details about Fiorentino. His writing is hard to understand and I am going to scan the letters and see if someone on this site can help with understanding his handwriting.
My Fiorentino, if he's the same one, was born in Scala, in 1869, on 12th of April (that much I can read from my nonno's letters). Fiorentino's parents were my great great grandparents Emiddio Oliva and Annunziata Oliva (born Amato).

I am in Australia by the way, but I have contact with some relatives in Italy from my Oliva clan, who migrated from Scala to further south in Italy, into Calabria.

Be great to compare family trees. Do you have info about Fiorentino's parents and siblings? Or nothing at all?
thanks, looking forward to hearing from you.

was thinking about this. the dates on my great great uncle don't match though. He would have been born too early to still be alive in 1973, it would have made him over 100 years old!
