Paolessi - Rome, Italy

Post by gallohjc »

Carlotta Paolessi born in Cittaducale 29 July 1868 to Nicola Paolessi and Santa Coretti/Corsino
Quirina Paolessi born 1876 in Rome to Nicola Paolessi and Concetta Roma ?
Amorina Paolessi born in Rome 4 June 1882 or 1885 to Nicola Paolessi and Santa Coretti/Corsino
Severino Paolessi born 1883 in Rome to Nicola Paolessi and Santa Coretti/Corsino

(birth dates, location and parents for Nicola Paolessi and Santa Coretti/Corsino unknown)

I have their info once they came to U.S. but can't find their birth or marriage certificates. Amorina married Domenico Mancini in Rome, 17 February 1901. Domenico was born 24 June 1874 in Gessopalena, Chieti, Abruzzo, Italy to Maria Giuseppa Melchiorre and Francesco Paolo Mancini. Carlotta married Luigi Luzzi 27 October 1897 in Rome. This info from their Declarations of Intention.

Other children of Nicola Paolessi were Linda, Gevena/Generera, Rosalina, and Pirro. The spelling of these names is questionable. They're all from family memories.

Would like to narrow down place/places of birth, name of their mother. Supposedly, Amorina said when she was about 8 her mother died. That would be about 1890-1893. It's been a puzzling search and I would appreciate any assistance or direction.

Thank you.

This is the marriage od Domenico Mancini and Amorina Paolessi on Feb 17, 1901 in Roma:

https://antenati.cultura.gov.it/ark:/12 ... 28/LqzJJqB

Amorina was born in Cittaducale, 22 years old (so, born about 1879), residing in Roma, daughter of Santa Coretti.
On the other hand, I've not been able to find the births you listed in Roma

Here is the Amorina's birth certificate from her marriage allegati:

https://antenati.cultura.gov.it/ark:/12 ... 09/w63aBq1

She was born on Jun 4, 1878

The allegati start here, you can see them in the following pages:

https://antenati.cultura.gov.it/ark:/12 ... 09/w1v9db6

The first document is a certificate of Amorina's recognition by her parents. In fact, they were not married at her birth, and did it on Jan 7, 1879
They also include Domenico's bith certificate from Gessopalena
According to the marriage banns, Nicola was deceased and Santa living, at the time of marriage.

You're welcome, Helen!
Unfortunately, records of Cittaducale for years from 1866 to 1899 only can be viewed at Family History Centers. However, they are here:

https://www.familysearch.org/search/cat ... %20Library

But...
here is is the birth record of Nicola Paolessi:

https://antenati.cultura.gov.it/ark:/12 ... 58/LqKana9

who was born in Cittaducale on May 3rd, 1827.
Father was Francesco, 40 years old, property-owner
Mother Maria Bonafaccia, 41 years old

Hello PippoM, I think I’m confused. Where Nicola recognizes Amorina’s birth it also mentions Carlotta and Linda. Triplets or 3 separate births? Any means to find info on Santa Coretti? And thank you for Nicola’s birth record. I’m looking for a FHC in our area. Your help is greatly appreciated. Helen

Carlotta and Linda are further names of Amorina.
In Italy we do not have what in the USA is called a "middle name", but a person can have multiple names, separated by a comma. Yet, only the first appears in his/her documents, according to current laws.

Birth record of Ersilia Paolessi, on May 14, 1864:

Santa was 21, then, so she should have been born in 1842/3. Let's see...
