I forgot to mention that there is a POINTERS group at our library too. I was thinking that this group could be helpful. I would think that our library should have Ancestry.com but I am going to call tomorrow and find out. Also there is a Family history center very close to my house. I am going to try to order the micro film from Barcis this week.

My husband called Gemma tonight and told her about all the cool documents that Maria found for me. She was so stunned that we could find this information on the computer. She is coming over this weekend to look at some of the print outs and pictures that we found.

I have another question for anyone who wants to take it. My husbands grandmother (Anna Vaccher) was married once before (1st husband died) and I am not sure if she would have gone back to her maiden name or not. I have found documents with her name as Anna Tosolini. I would guess that she would have kept her married name but I am not sure.
Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

Hi Maria,
Yep that is our Anna. I have her SS# and her naturalization papers too. I have been trying to get somewhere with her Naturalization number but I have not had much luck. It seems that I am going to have to take a trip to Michigan to access the microfilm to get anything. Would the intent document have any information on her maiden name? I looked on Stevemorse for Anna and came up with nothing. I am still confused as to where Anna is from in Italy. Her 2nd husband was from Bannia but I have found several letters from "cousins" that are from Tricesimo.

Second husband Luigi Vaccher was born July 3, 1887 and died August 1963. I was able to find that from his SS#. He also was married in Italy before and his wife died too. I have found two Luigi's on Ellis Island but neither look like the right guy. Both of them were headed to Canada and my husband does not think that was him.

Anyhow I am going to call the Family history center on Monday and try to arrange to get the Film from Barcis. I might also head over there this week when the kids are in school and look up some things on the Ancestry site.

Thanks and have a great week.

Hi Pam,

I am so glad you mentioned the Canadian connection!!

I noticed many Vaccher's going to Canada... (was checking it out last night)

I also noticed that the surname Tosolini and Vaccher are North Italian surnames.... I didn't even think Vaccher was Italian until I looked into it further...

Thanks for the further update... hopefully more info can be found...

maria,
I know! Vaccher does not sound very Italian. When we were on our honeymoom that I spoke about earlier, we visited both sides of the family and when we were in Bannia almost every door plaque had at least 2 to 3 Vacchers listed. It was pretty strange.
I have a feeling the Vaccher surname started in France somehow. It sounds French to me.
