Request 1870 Death Translation for Benedetto D'Angelo

https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903 ... cc=2051639

No. 319 Image 1163

From what we can make out, it shows a person reporting death, two grave diggers, (their Fathers), living wife of Benedetto, parents of Benedetto. Believe his age is wrong, should be about 52.

Do you have Caterina's death record? If not, look for that as it will have her place of birth, which is where they probably would’ve married. She had died prior to August 1886 when son Pasquale married, so must have died between December 1870 and August 1886 some time. You could also look in Marineo for the Marriage Publication which would have been posted in Marineo as well.

Hi again

I've spent some time looking through various records. I went through Marriage Records in Marineo from 1842 inclusive back to 1831 and didn't find a marriage record there for Benedetto D'Angelo and Caterina. I also located two of the three birth records and observed that Caterina's surname was spelt Coleanni each time not Colajanni/Colaianni. I also observed the same spelling in the 1852 Birth index where their son Giuseppe was listed, but I was unable to find the actual birth - it might be out of order??? The other thing that I observed as I was going through the marriage indices is that while I came across many d'Angelo's, I saw no Colajanni/Colaianni or Coleanni's so my thinking is that she was born elsewhere, which is where they were "probably" married. The other thing which you may not have noted was that both Benedetto and Caterina carried the title of Don and Donna as did most of the D'Angelo's that I came across.

Edit to Add: In case you don't have them:

1849 Birth of Pasquale d’Angelo son of Benedetto d’Angelo and Caterina Coleanni: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903 ... cc=2051639

1843 Birth of Cira d’Angelo daughter of D. Benedetto d'Angelo (26, Civile) and of Donna Caterina Coleanni (28):

Mother name Caterina. no birth location.

Other sister Marriage in 1850 - Maria Grazia / age 26 ? same mother and father of Carmela.

No. 13
Maria's Birth location is hard to read , you may be able to understand writing.

Could be Caterina's family, if you make out Maria's birth local/

Great finds!!! The town of Maria Grazia's birth is Ficuzza, hamlet of Corleone, I'd say.

She was 26 and her parents were the deceased Don Gioacchino Coleanni, 70 yo, and the deceased Donna Caterina Salerno, 67 yo, who had resided in Marino.

Now just need to link up Caterina Coleanni to this family --( found birth for a Salvatore Coleanni_with those sane parents in 1826 Ficuzza.

Ficuzza has some poor records/ will search on.

Good to hear :D :D :D

Thanks for the update. I will leave you both to enjoy and continue your journey. (I know how satisfying and exciting it is when you locate your own records. I'm always here for any translations.)

Not sure what you mean about Ficuzza's records. There were very few of them. Sometimes there was an index and sometimes not. I haven't checked to see whether some of the Ficuzza "events" were registered in Corleone? I did check but when I clicked on Corleone it gave me the same records that I was seeing on Ficuzza? Not sure.

Best to you both.
