Senigallia

Post by Biff83 »

I am helping someone at my local lbrary who had ancestors from Senigallia, Ancora province, Marche region but can only find records 1863 and after. Does any one know if it was called by another name or was part of another town before then? Thanks in advance.

Senigallia was called "Sinigaglia" before, but, if your friend is looking for vital civil records, I think they start from 1861. Before then, there are only Parish records, as it was part of the Papal State.

I also have ancestors (surname Silviotti) from Senigallia, Ancora province, Marche region but can only find records in 1800's and after. I'm looking for Giuseppe "Joseph" Silviotti born about Nov 1852 (I'm guessing from 1917 was when he died) Senigallia, Ancora province, Marche Italy. I also can't find who his brother and sisters are or who his parents are and if they had kids. How could I go back to finding records before the 1800's? Thanks
